Well it is the night before Christmas Eve and all I have left to do on my daughters clone kart gift is to make the brace/support for the header and muffler. I was wondering what size material you all have used to make this support. Also does everyone bolt it to the motor. I ask because it seems that the chain guard is directly in line and would not require some of the twisting I have seen on some online examples. Lastly is this brace to actually support the muffler and header or to take out the vibration. It seems if it is to take out the vibration a smaller material could be used and that would make contouring it to the muffler and header much easier.
If it helps this is on a Box Stock Project clone with the mini muffler that are prone to break at the treads
I appreciate any info as I am going to try to make something up tomorrow.
Thanks, Ryan

Typically these support straps are made of 3/4 wide x 1/8thk steel and were implemented as a 'band-aid' at best. It is a cheap fix to a lousy design. Blue Max/Davis is having a Swap Meet on Jan 4th ans there will be several examples there for viewing if you go there. BTW...the answer is 'yes'.....support and dampen vibration.

Thanks for the info guys. I mocked one up from 3/4 by 1/8. Looks pretty good.
