OK, for those of us that did not go, let's get a race report!
Who flew off turn 5 ? Who went wide coming on to the straight and hit the barriers? Who ground up a gear on turn 2? Oh yeah, who won?
Curious minds want to know....

Well, I believe I was the only kart of our bunch that didn't go off track somewhere. I think all 3 Duffs went off turn 5, I saw PaulV go off of turn 5 in lap 1 of the main, BradW and Randy got into it in turn 2 and got off track in the main, and Scott seemed to enjoy several off track excursions in the main...
PaulV was the winner of F200...
It was a fun weekend...

Yes, the #9 kart has been summoned to the NFRA hauler. Pending a full review of the video evidence the #9 will most likely be placed on probation for the remainder of the '09 season and may have to serve a 1 race suspension.

Yep - my bad. I apologize everyone for flying off of turn 5 in the main and scattering the loose stuff. I had been very much within myself all weekend at that spot and ended up missing my turn-in point. Hit it perfectly the other 11 laps after that.
Reno was a blast! (as I expected). Still as fun as ever and I had some great battles with Scott Smith. He won the 1st heat, and I won the 2nd. Scott was on pole for the main by virtue of "Pea Pick" (transponders weren't used because of a power outage at the track).
I was really happy to see Randy out there running strong. He finally seems to have got his setup running good and the best part is he felt it ran the best it ever has. He and Paulski seemed pretty closely matched for most of the racing.
Once again the clones were having some great battles and this time ol Duffy made some huge improvements and was giving Mike fits out there! Way to go old man ;D And thanks ScottS for helping them out this weekend.
Thanks everyone for a great weekend. Special shout to Todd for the rear tires and carb diaphram and to ScottS for the fronts.

LOL! Details Brad! Inquiring minds want to know Well, first a little background. Last year at the night race we had a WF racing with us (Dan the Wolfman from Reno). In the heat race he started in front of me and I spent a good bit of time trying to get by him. As expected, with a F200 I'd catch him at the end of the straight every time but I never felt I was cleanly by him going into turn 1. So after making a concentrated effort to get a really good run onto the straight, I went flying by him. WooooHOOO I thought to myself....at least until I realized I was going into turn one WAY too hot. In my best Scooby Doo voice said to myself, Rut Row, I'm going to have a helluva time making turn two as I was WAY out of shape. Managed to keep it on the track but Dan pulled a very sweet over/under move on me and went sailing out of turn two in the lead. When we talked about it at the scales he was kind of chuckling that yes, he had seen that MANY times and knew where I was going to end up and just set himself up to take advantage of the situation. Fast forward to yesterday. Started 5th in the main. Managed to get by Randy in turn 5. I knew I didn't have the ponies to drive away from him and figured I'd see him motor by me on the straight. Couple laps go by and here comes Randy FLYING by me at the end of the straight. At that moment I said to myself, hey I've seen this movie before and Randy is going to have a real fun time making turn two. So Randy goes flying over, I go flying under. Unfortunately, we both met at turn two. Dust and sand are flying everywhere, hay bales are exploding...quite the scene. Of course both of our motors stalled. I was able to press the starter button and continue along. But seeing Randy wave (and no, it wasn't the 1 finger salute variety either) as I went by for a lap or two I pulled off even though the race was still in progress. I still haven't seen the video yet so I don't know if it was one of those "race'n deals" or just stupidity on my part. Randy was also wearing a helmet cam so we should have some awesome footage. Regarding the probation/suspension of the #9 I was only half kidding. These last two races have been probably the worst two races of my karting career in terms of contact. I think I've gone entire seasons with less contact than I've had in just two races. Thing is, I'm not alone. With the exception of 1 driver, all of the front runners in the F200 class have complained to me about excessive contact and a serious lack of give and take among the race leaders. Incidental contact is going to happen on occasion but we need to remind ourselves (myself included) that we all want to go home in one piece. Maybe I need to make an example out of myself and sit my butt down for a race. Obviously neither I or the NFRA has any authority over anyone else in terms of whether they race or not. However, I'd hate to see us get to the point of the KT carnage class (sorry Ron, I'm thinking more of the PC KTs)

Wow...sounds like you two made some serious contact! Sorry to hear that.....it usually means some replacement parts are in order and maybe some bruises too I think it's tough to try and be competitive and not get into each other once in awhile, but when it becomes to frequent eventually somebody is going to get hurt.

Yeah, the amazing part was both Randy and I (AND our karts) came through OK.
I just don't want us to become complacent when it comes to contact. With the bumping and banging going on at the front of the F200s, Me and John duking it out and then other miscellaneous incidents like me and Randy I don't want to see anyone get hurt. The funny thing about karting is on one hand you can have a pretty big wreck like Randy and I and the drivers and karts come through just fine and on the other hand you can have very minor wheel to wheel contact and someone gets seriously hurt after flipping end over end through the air and their kart is totaled.

Come on Brad, last two races. Nothing major happened in Davis.
Also it all about the drivers perspective while you are racing. If you want more contact it will happen. If you want less contact it will happen (unless it's from behind, then you can't control it).
When I was going into turn 3 at Davis I was 1/4 kart past you and easily (!!!!!!!) could have plowed right through the curb and you in the process. I have an old kart and don't care if it breaks. But MY mindset was to finish and have a clean race. It turned out great for both of us.
Things will happen on the track and they happen FAST. Non-racers don't understand that, I think we all do. Most times we just drive a race and nothing eventful happens. Other times we have a split second of shear terror. It's racing. I look forward to racing with you in Dixon. I want to see if you will cut me off again. LOL

Shhh, don't tell anyone but I am not a smarter racer, I just don't like to fix my kart. Just remember I don't even like to replace a gear, let alone a pod, tire rod, gear, chain, steering wheel, axle, ..... need I go on?
