First off, it is friggen hot down here! LOL. Second, I'm post this on my iPhone so cut me some slack on the typing as I am not a pimply faced 14 yr old and I DOn'T text!
Anyway her is some info you guys might want. Tech 12-3 practice 12:30 - 3 driver meeting 3-3:30 qualifying 3:30 - 5 heat 5- 7 main 7-10
The pits are packed. Karl Jason and I are inside the track gates. If you aren't here already with a trailer you are already too late. I plan on sleeping inside the gates tonight but tomorrow i'm going to pack up and find a spot outside the gates. There is plenty of room out there so we can all pit more or less together.
Gearing-I came with my Davis gearing and had to drop 3 teeth and could probably go down another but being from the Ron/brad school of kart maint I'm going to say the hell with it.
I hope someone found this stuff helpful. If you have any ?s I'll try and answer.

It was a late night last night. Didn't get home until 1:30am. Just woke up. Large quantities of body soreness and feelings of bliss. Stockton was fun, different, exciting, hot in the day, cool at night (thank god!). I arrived about 11:00am and found the NFRA boys just outside the track entrance in the big parking lot. It turned out to be a great place to pit because the regular pits were like a friggin sardine can. Registration was a long, hot, process of standing around waiting. They really need to fix that.
Main Event Results:
F200 - 1st: Paul Viacrucis 2nd: Scott Smith 3rd: Randy 4th: Puddles
World Formula - 1st: Danny Cahill (would love to have this kid around all the time. He is freaking fast. He got quickest qualifying time of all the 4-cycles, including F200. He and his dad are great people and enjoyed them pitting with us. They traveled all the way from Oregon) 2nd: Brad Wunder 3rd: Dean
Clones - 1st: Carl 2nd: Jason
I had a scare at the beginning of the main event when they let us out onto the track. I went through the first left hand sweeper and promptly spun out because it was so slick and of course I was over excited and we had just waited for a long time on the A grid due to a jr driver going through a hay bale (he had to go to the hospital but will be OK). Too much idle time at 11:30pm causes you to start fogging up I guess!
Anyways - a very, very special shout out goes to Brad Hendrickson for his sponsorship of new tires which were a god send. Couldn't have won without them. Thanks a ton Brad! And also an equally special super duper thanks to Ron Carello for sponsoring my entry fee. You allowed this poor boy to race buddy and I cannot thank you enough. You are a true blessing and the reason I love the NFRA.
NFRA! NFRA! NRFA! Woo Hoo! (too sore and groggy to run through the pits waving the banner right now).
thanks eveybody for eveything and will see ya'll at Davis next month.

General race report: Stockton's track management decided to not allow people that practiced the day before to register the day before. This was a business decision (because they use all paid help), that came back to bite them Saturday. The excess registration time put everyone about and hour or more behind before we ever turned a lap, but that was the only sour note all day.
For being the first time at a track, it seemed like thrashing in the pits was pretty minimal except the #10. Rick made a poor tire choice (note: 55's do not work when the air temp drops below 85) that he paid for dearly in the main. It was a shame that only two clones ran, there had been a third there on practice day who elected not to run Saturday due to his lack of experience.
It was awesome that Brad#9 saved enough pit space for everyone, it would have been a little scary to pit individually crammed inside the pit gate. We all got to watch an Autocross that was going on in the lot next to us during the day, then we watched the Delta Speedway (Dirt track) Micro Midgets when the sun went down, as a pair of open gates allowed free access from the kart track.
All in all with the lack of thrashing in the pits, the NFRA spent more time together in Brad#9's "hospitality tent" swapping stories through the day than in any race I remember. It was a really fun day.

Race video is now available - vimeo.com/6676619 What I found amazing was the difference in the track from Friday night to Saturday night. During testing on Friday afternoon the track had a TON of grip. I was going to start making changes but decided why bother as the track would probably loosen up when the sun went down. Went out for some runs Friday night and discovered the track may have changed a bit, but no where close to what I expected. Made some minor chassis and air pressure changes and was able to loosen up things a bit but was still on the tight side. Saturday night was a completely different story. Holy cow! Without making any changes from the previous nights setup I went from a tick tight to a tick loose. I felt bad for Puddles and Randy because I told them that in testing the night before the track remained on the grippy side even after the sun went down and that had I brought my mostly used up practice tires I'd be running them that night. As was previously mentioned, they both went out on old tires. Of course, even with new rubber there was a LOT of ice dancing on the warm up laps. You'll notice in the video that Paul has issues getting through turn 3 and Puddles spins on the front straight and was left pointing in the wrong direction on the left side. Once the race starts Randy and I have a good battle going on for a while with me passing him then he gets around me and I get around him, etc etc. The video captures one of Randy's Dale Earnhardt impressions as he goes flying off the track in turn 3 and comes back on the in the middle of 4. LOL Danny, the WF guy from Oregon is fassssssst. As was mentioned he out qualified everyone, including all of the F200s. Quite impressive given he has never even seen the Stockton track before AND gives away 2-3 HP. Too bad he had to start where he did (they gridded us by class rather than qualifying time). By the time he avoided all the spinning going on at the beginning of all the races and got around slower traffic the leaders had a pretty good head start. Danny and Bob (his dad) are great guys and I look forward to them coming down for a race or two next year. I'm still scratching my head on why they didn't allow registration the day before. ?? They had plenty of staff there on Friday and could have easily done registration. Oh well, I'm guessing they won't do that again next year. lol OK, 3 GR races down and 1 to go! We've got Davis coming up with the last GR race at Dixon in November. Hopefully we'll get a good turnout for these last couple of races and finish the season off right.

We really hated to miss the stockton race, Mike was really sick and he is ok now, I think it was something he ate. But he was one sick kid, As for me, I'm getting better, but waiting for my test to come back from the lab. We have made it to all the NFRA Races so far but the Stockton race, I don't plan on missing any others. I really felt lost this weekend. But my kids and my health comes 1st. See all you brother NFRA'ers at the next one.

I really felt lost this weekend. I know the feeling! I hope you are feeling better, Duffy. I'm looking forward to racing my new BSC under-powered kart at Davis next month, and looking forward to you being out there! Sounds like everyone had a good time... Nice! Good job PaulV!
