Is there anyone in the area racing the 250 CC kart engines? This seems to becoming popular in some of the Midwest race clubs.

Scoots,
I used to be active in kart racing about 35 years ago. My kids have develped an interest and we have been playing around with some TAG karts, 125 cc two stroke.
I am interested in putting together a 4 stroke kart for myself and one of my cousins in the mid west sent out some information on the 250 CC class engines that they are racing back there. He also races snow mobiles, and stated that "knowing you Greg, you would want to look into the 250 cc" mostly cuz I like power.
So I am looking to do something this year, would like to do a 250 cc sprint kart or similar but would like to find out if I will be able to race it locally.

Greg, I would love to sprint my 250TaG. I think we could run with the 125stock moto boys @dixon but it still takes three to make a class.
Have you looked into our f-200 class? Lots of FUN!!! 12 races----6 tracks!

Scoots,
I am looking at f-200 and 125 cc tag. I just thought that the 250TaG would be close to what they can get from the 125cc two stroke. But I am still learning. Things have sure changed since i was racing back in the 60s and 70s, when I was a kid.
Greg, who has not raced in over 30 years....Pretty bad

When you say three karts makes a class - can it be mixed? i.e. any 4-stroke? I have an Aixro and someday it would be fun to race. I know someone who is getting the new SA250 too.
My other idea is to get a clone. I need to learn to drive fast first though....

Learning to drive on an Aixro powered machine would be a mistake IMHO. You need to learn to carry corner speed before you learn how to do 80 MPH down the straights. Otherwise you will get very frustrated at being off the track a lot.

I believe it! That is why I am considering putting a clone on there. I am finding it difficult getting the corners right - especially exiting with so much torque available.
TBH I am not into 2-strokes at all really and just love the rebuild schedule and no-tinkering aspect of the Aixro. Nothing could be as turn-up-and-drive as this engine has been.
On the flip side if I did put a clone on the kart it would be shunned/banned from my local (Infineon) track I am sure. I am trying to go to Dixon more often now - especially as I am building a cadet for my son (with clone).
