Anyone bringing a generator ? I just realized my pit is going to be very dark unless I can steal some electrons from somebody.

Great timing on the thread Simon. Just got an email from Brian at NNKC asking how many of us are making the trip over the hill. They are planning on buying pizza for everyone and he is looking for a head count so they can make sure they buy enough. ;D If I had a generator I'd definitely bring it. Depending on where we pit there could be a good amount of ambient light but that will be a crap shoot. So who else is going? At this point I know the following Rich-going up Friday Brad-going up Friday Scoots- going up Thurs or Fri Simon-going but not sure when Ron-going but not sure when ScottB-going but not sure when Don-indicated he would likely go Brad42-? Mark-? Terry-has a club race at Davis on Sunday but this is RENO baby! Karl-work is killing him but I'm working on him as well. Kevin-great place to get your first race in man!! Luis-not going to make it Paul-not going to make it Terry Ives-Has a vintage kart event at Stockton same night If you are undecided and have not been to Reno (especially a night race) this is the event of the year. If you make the trip you will NOT be sorry!!

I'm coming up on Friday to set up and get some laps in.
Undecided if I'll be camping Friday night or crashing with my pal in Truckee. Will be camping Saturday night of course.

Simon, I have several big generators. But none of them are what you would call quiet. Let me know if you need me to bring one. I'm going on battery power myself

No Rich, that's fine. I only need light, so I'll probably go and grab a Coleman propane lamp from Target.

I'll be chasing Terry at the Gold Rush race in Davis. I wish I could make both races.

Hey guys! I sooo wish we could join you Saturday! Unfortunately this is the 1 race this whole year that Keevan actually gets to race with somebody in his class. It's a bit much for me to do the dash up the hill, race, come back and race the next day in Davis. Maybe 20 years ago but these days I'm feeling my gray hairs Have a great time and I'll definitely try to hit another race somewhere!

It's a bit much for me to do the dash up the hill, race, come back and race the next day in Davis. Maybe 20 years ago but these days I'm feeling my gray hairs Have a great time and I'll definitely try to hit another race somewhere! How old is Keevan? From Brian at NNKC... "We also have a Jr 2 clone class with 5 racing right now possibly 6. If any of your guys has 12-15 year olds that can race clone, bring em up! Alright, well talk later" On the generator issue...I was talking to my neighbor across the street who hits all the garage/estate sales within 40 miles (seems like anyway) of Folsom. I asked him if he knew of any good deals around for a generator. He said he generally doesn't buy those because you can never really tell how many hours are on the things. Anyway, he said what about the little head lamp he uses when he needs a little extra light. Think a coal miner sort of thing. He let me borrow his (which I used last night BBQing) and they are pretty cool. These days they come with about 25 LED lights and run on AAA batteries. Not enough to light up an entire pit space but plenty enough to navigate around a dark trailer or work on your kart. Basically whatever you look at you light up. He said they can be had for about $10 at Home Depot/Lowes. Just a word of warning. Don't let your wife see you with the thing on. My wife couldn't stop laughing and almost fell off the couch when see me with my little light on. LOL

More info from Brian at NNKC
"Yes we will. Lights will be turned on a little before the sun goes down, about 8:00pm. Well leave them on for 1 hr or maybe a little more. Just enough time for everyone out there to get some practice in.
Then gates will be open on Saturday at 7am for those that want to practice during the day. Practice on Sat will go from 9am-1pm. Then we'll shut down for registration at 1pm till 330p. Pass this to your guys!"

Thanks Brad...Keevan's 11, so he's a Jr1. He has been all by himself all season (running with the Jr1-2 cycles and the HPV 1 at the last race). This race there are supposedly 6 Jr1 clones running so he's really excited to have somebody to actually race with.
I think that it would still be in the best interest of my continued sanity (don't laugh now!) for me to pass on this round. (To be really honest, I don't think I'm up for the chase across the desert when my kart figures its had enough and decides to head for the prairie ;D )
Have fun and I'm looking forward to hearing all about it!

Work is a huge mess this week so it looks like I will not be able to take Friday off. I'm going to have to drive up Friday night and probably stop in Truckee, then head out to the track first thing Saturday.
Can someone try and save me a truck & trailer spot ?

Sure not a problem Simon. You'll just have to get the right gear setup. Just to let you know....I'm going with a 15/73.
