I hadn't driven my KT in about 3 months and I ran YKC for the first time in Davis this weekend. Practice sessions (about 9 laps) no noticeable difference, in fact I didn't like the YKCs. I then qualified on them and my times were no better. During the Heats and the Main they were improving and my times actually improved from 41.2 to 40.4. I don't know if it was because I was nose to tail with someone (which does impact my driving because I am not good at qualifying), or if it was the tires. But the kart felt better then it did with YHCs.

Hi Duffy, absolutely run the 6.0's. the 7.10 are to much tire for a clone to pull out of the corner.
At first glance, the YKC's are a bit taller then the YHC's, about 1" in circumference. They also have a stiffer sidewall then the YHC's, they come in the same sizes as YHC's. I tend to think they are a little harder compound the YHC's, but someone swiped my durometer last year so I can't verify that. I sent Matt out on YHC's to learn the track the first few days of practice, we set our fastest lap on used YHC's. The second fastest lap was on used YKC's a week later on the last day of racing. What was notable about those times was that the YHC's were only 1 lap near that time and the YKC's we had a dozen laps at that time.
I can't say which is better, that's a matter of opinion and chassis setup. I'm not sure that we have found the optimal setup for the YKC's yet with our Birel, I just know we had to tighten up our setup, but that could have been the track. My gut feeling is that the YHC's are about .5 seconds faster at Reno. There should be lots more data coming in soon.
