First off, way to go Simon on taking the first win of the season! The driver of the #47 (new, old number for Simon from his car racing days) will henceforth be know as Sandbagger Simon for being slow throughout the practice sessions, and then winning BOTH heats AND the main.
Both days were on the warmish side. OK, friggen hot! The funny thing is, come summertime we'd love to have race days in the low 90s.
We did have a couple of "issues" which will be detailed on the Kangaroo Court board.
I think everyone had a great time running at the Atwater track. They are very 4 cycle friendly and invited us back whenever we can make it. I think we all appreciated that they waived the $40 practice fees for us. Thanks AKC!

Well that was an unexpected outcome ! Having never raced at Atwater before, I arrived on Saturday for practice with Brad and Rich and quickly found I had a lot of learning to do. Every session out, Brad and Rich quickly took off down the road and I didn't seem to be getting any quicker. Come race day we had two practice sessions, the first of which was much like Saturday, but in the second I had a glimmer of hope as the speed difference between Brad and I seemed far smaller, but I was still very inconsistent in the twisties. Rich, was running a tooth or two less than Brad and I, so once he was in clear air, he was going really quickly .... but as the races would prove, his tall gear cost him on the starts and then when he was behind Brad or I he couldn't quite get wound up soon enough to get by. My starts seemed to work for me every time and I only had to make one mid race pass to win all 3 of my races. The folks at AKC were great and we all enjoyed ourselves. Camping at the track worked out well. Those that missed out should try and make the trip next time, it's a unique track for sure and a good time was had by all. Lots of 4-cycle action with both a massive Clone class (for which Mark bravely arrived on Sunday morning and jumped into the action despite never having set eyes on the track before) and a good sized, very competitive, Animal class. As is customary .... here's is my helmet cam highlights reel. I have removed the endless laps of me driving around without any karts ahead of me (but long may that carry on!) youtu.be/t5nQ7hn-A2Y

.... and as Brad mentioned. We had a few mechanical issues. A couple that will be more fully investigated in KC but in addition I had an oil breather pipe split and undo a winter of kart cleaning in the space of 10 laps, and Brad tried an experimental variable ratio drive system (pretty sure that's illegal Brad) by removing all the teeth from his clutch driver sprocket in the middle of one of the heat races.

Great race at Atwater. But for the record. I hate P-pick starts now! Due to the totaly random P-pick I ended up starting either on the outside or the back every time. GRRRRRRR Mylaps did not post practice times, but if they did ? The track surface was great, running the long track was great

Whaaaaaaaat? First off, I'll have you know that driver came directly from the Skunk Works dept at the Test Facility. (As an aside, Ron, contrary to your speculation that the TF is in my mind, it is in fact, a real place. Now, had my driver been made out of rocks then maybe I would have allowed that it came from my head. However, since it was made of metal, and there is no metal in my head, I maintain it is a real place). Since the part came from an official source, it is obviously a legal part. Coming up for an explanation of exactly what happened, well, that will be a little more difficult. I do know that if the infraction isn't reported on the official thread it didn't happen. I'll be happy to report the malfunction on the #47 however.

I see Ron is listed in WF. Either he put a vinyl decal over his F200 or he actually bought, installed, and temporarily had running a WF. I'm going with the decal.
Shall I assume y'all ran at 390#?

Man you guys are brutal to me. It is a WF and it never stopped running. The brakes stopped stopping. I actually have two WF engines thank you very much. And don't get me started on the 390. Last year there were talks of "losing weight", "exercising", "running at a lower weight". With that in mind, as of the Atwater race, I lost 21 pounds. Now they are still running 390, and I had to strap a ton of lead on the sled.

Actually Ron, it was a grand conspiracy started by your wife to get you to lose a couple of pounds. So you really should be thanking your wife. ;D

The grand conspiracy I can believe. My wife involved in it, not. In fact I know she's not involved in it because she's not happy I am losing weight and not exercising or even trying. I've been drinking more water throughout the day rather than a couple of pots of coffee. I call it my "water diet". Even my kids mention it and laugh especially after I come home with Big Macs, Super Stars with Cheese, Del Taco, Taco Bell, KFC, and many other fast food items. When I mention the water diet she . But it works.
