Thanks go out to the NFRA members who helped man the crossover race at Davis on 7/22/2012. Yea, Brad, Rich and Don!

With such a hot day out there it was much appreciated to see you guys out working to keep the race day going. Without people will to come out and perform the tasks that typically are not very fun we would not be able to race.
Also thank you for the NFRA sponsoring the Blue max race. I heard it throughout the day. I heard some people mention "what is the NFRA", so I told them. It may spur some interest. had I remembered you guys were going to be there I would have worn my NFRA shirt.

Of course you guys are welcome. Other than sweating like a dog all day we had fun helping out. For those who may be unaware, the NFRA secured "Title Sponsorship" of the 2012 Davis Crossover just before the race. Between providing non-paid workers and some some sponsorships $s I had hoped to not only help out the club but also elevate the visibility of the NFRA before a fairly large crowd. Leo did a great job of pumping up the NFRA during the drivers meeting and we received a nice round of applause when it was announced we sponsored the race. The only unfortunate thing was I wanted us to go work the pits (particularly the clone drivers) during lunch but we barely had enough time to woof down a burger. This whole sponsorship idea was something I cooked up the day before. Unfortunately I couldn't get in touch with Leo until the morning of the race and I didn't know if it was going to work out or not. Had I known, we could have had the yellow shirts out in force and REALLY worked the race, both on the track AND in the pits. Oh well, something to think about in the future. While the NFRA sponsored the race, luckily it wasn't a sanctioned NFRA event. Otherwise at least a couple of us would have ended up in the Kangaroo Court. Terry most likely would have gotten rung up on a hilarity charge for getting herself high-sided on the berm in T3. She was completely stuck but figured out that with a little bunny hop she could move herself a couple inches. Unfortunately she had about 15 feet of berm to bunny hop over. After approximately 31 hops she managed to free herself of the berm and she was back racing. ;D Yours truly also provided some comedic relief by face planting myself on the track in the hair pin. A kart went into the barriers and when I went running over there I stepped in some sort of d**n hole just off the track. As soon as I did it I knew I was going down in a heap. I had flags, radio, headsets flying in all directions in a effort to break my fall. Other than a sprained wrist (good thing we aren't racing this weekend-I couldn't) and wounded pride I am OK. My main concerned was my style points score for the fall. The lady in the tower gave me a 9.475. No word from the Russian judge. ;D

Unfortunately they followed the Kid Karts so I was dealing with scales, and then prepping the kart for the next round. As for Brad, what class was that in? That would have been hysterical. However, on a serious note, I am glad you did not get hurt too bad, and hope you get better. In 2009 I stepped in a hole when my son was learning the racing lines. I walked backward of the track surface as he raced by and stepped in a hole. I fell backward and seriously hurt my back. It has not been the same since 2009.

Geez, no good deed goes unpunished! Sponsoring a race should not lead to wrist pains, along w/ a bruised ego. We'll hope the healing process is swift, guessing a jump in NFRA membership would go a long way to make one feel better. Good work guys on assisting Davis.

I'll Definately add my thanks to everyone. It was a frustrating day race wise but fun to see all the karts out there (80 total and 20 of those in clone). Thanks Rich for the loan of the jet. That made a big difference in the temp for the engine. It was so stinking hot I'm surprised we didn't all just melt afterwards. Hope I'll see you all again soon! Hoppin' down the bunny trail......

At the Davis cross over race we talked about practising at Dixon this Friday, 7/27. I can be there around 11:00 am. There is a club race scheduled for Sunday so it should be open for practise. Anyone else?
