The NFRA Cantina will not be making this trip. However, negotiations are underway to to get the Smoke Whisperer up to Reno for the night race on 9-22-12.
I thought about bringing my BBQ (about the same size as Simon's) but unless I want to transport it romneydog style I don't have any room for it. But what I can do is bring my camping stove and enough burgers and dogs for everyone. If you want something other than cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, and mustard on your burgers/dogs, bring it.
With a stove we'll also have hot and fresh coffee for Sunday morning!

That was a fun weekend. Congrats to Simon who pulled off a win. It was my first time at the track and it was a challenge to say the least. I think turn 5 is my favorite, and turn 2 is my least favorite.
Brad, thank you for feeding us. The hot dogs and hamburgers were awesome. You have to stop apologizing for not being as sanitary as it could be. Remember we are at a track with dirt, sweat, grease, oil, and all types of chemicals.
Late night in Reno at the track was so peaceful. The weather was absolutely perfect. And the moonrise and sunset were extraordinary.
The kart club was so receptive of our arrival. I don't think I have had that many people thank me for coming to a race. Although I am not special [shut up] they really made me feel welcomed.
Looking forward to the night race. We need as many people to race as possible.

I agree with Ron's thoughts. (Did I just say/type that?) It was a trip of firsts for me. First time at the fun and challenging Reno track First time on the pole for a Heat race (inverted start) First time riding the "Crash Cart" back to the pits Thanks to Brad for our food. And, thanks to our NNKC hosts for a great time. Also, my ribs are quite sore today!

Also, my ribs are quite sore today! Do you wear a rib vest? If not I have one you can use. If you do have one, is it (1) the carbon fiber one with the hard sides, or (2) one of the flexible soft sided one. If it is the soft sided one you can try mine to see of it helps. It helped me when I was hurt.

Thanks Ron. Yes a fun weekend! Sounds like I missed a good portion of the fun on Saturday night, but my toolbox reorganization was much appreciated. Let's see how many people we can get together for the next race on the 22nd. It would be great to be able to add a significant number of karts. Very hospitable club and members, well worth supporting. I have started on the video highlights reel. Some entertaining stuff there. My buddy John took a load of great photos which I will go through and upload somewhere later in the week. This one pretty much sums up Rich's day. Ron and Brad battling for 2nd while Rich ponders on what might have been ......

So many highlights! Where to start? Great day of practice, for free!!!!! Flash mob repair of Brad's motor Brad providing the BBQ for dinner, Thanks Brad Brad in a 4 beer induced giggle trying to figure out ways to mess with Simon. Ron and I might have contributed, maybe? The first( and probably last) annual NFRA moonlight race Ron leaving kart body part land mines on the track during said race. The giggle in my helmet after said race. The welcome and hospitality from the NNKC The great racing on the new to us all track#2, allot harder than I thought. Congrats to Simon, once a again a mistake free race. Simon, that picture could not capture my mood at that time any better. Awesome shot!I need to get that one printed, framed, and titled " Racer Thinking 2012 season UGHHHHHH" I have good video of all three races for at least as long as I was still in them . The video from the second heat is great, being in the back is great for pictures. The video from the main is short and boring except for the language the camera caught after my chain fell off. The cameras will not record racing sounds that don't sound like farting but the catch the language in my helmet?

First off, congrats to Simon for a well deserved win! Simon, your friend's picture is classic. I was going to use the pic of you at the top of the podium for the Picture of the Week, but I think we have a new winner with that pic....sorry Rich. Everyone is welcome for the grub. Ron, I know you'd eat a hot dog even after it was dropped on the ground, rolled through the Rich's fuel stained pit and then got a good coating of dust when it finally rolled off pavement. I was worried about everyone ELSE! LOL j/k For those of you not there I donned a fresh pair of gloves every time I touched anyones food. Brad42 would have been proud of me. ;D Oh and I like the way you throw me under the bus for trying to mess with Simon. Remember, it was YOU guys who wanted to haul his trailer up the hill to turn 5 and leave it there! Ron is right about the hospitality of the NNKC. Everyone was so nice and it seemed like everyone was thanking us for making the trip. One thing we learned Sunday morning was there wasn't going to be a night race! Seems they had a vote at the last club meeting to make it a day race. The primary concern was whether they would have the kart count to cover their costs. The board member who busted Rich and Ron for their "moonlight racing" (which was totally irresponsible and is in no way condoned by the NFRA ) advised that another vote would be taken during the drivers meeting. During the meeting the issue of kart count again came up. I didn't want to interfere with their club business but I let them know that at least 7 (Rich, Simon, Ron, Mark, Dan, Brian and I) had committed to making the race and that as many of 10 WFs would be there. They probably would have voted to reinstate the night race anyway but I think our commitment helped. So now we need to make sure we follow through and show up! I talked to Leo and Steve and it looks like one of them will be driving that WF. Got a call into Terry and if I had Don's number I'd give him a call. Since I don't I'll shoot him an email. So what say ye Mr. Bura? Now for the one bummer in my post....Those videos are nice and all, but, personally I think they suck. NO WHERE in there do you see the 9 in his customary lead position? Funny how your cameras don't work when the 9 is in the lead, but get him back in the pack and they suddenly work?? WTH? Just kidding....good racing everybody.
