Get that thing fixed! As for the SWM....New rules this year (might have been pointed at us?) require that no driver may exceed 2 hours, 15 minutes of total time during the 4 hour race. Well you gotta do what you gotta do. If there was just a minimum rule in place at the time it makes sense that you can run as much as possible. For the record, "us" does not refer to team NFRA as we were in complete compiance at all times until the #9 driver got black flagged (but were not going there now).

Man, I almost forgot the follies at last year's race. Had heard that Ron Howard considered chronicling NFRA's plight that day, but decided to reach a slightly larger audience w/ RUSH. Dang, missed it by THAT much!
There was a minimum time-rule @ the SWM, 45 minutes for each team driver, that still exists. Lastly, maximum diameter of fuel line is 1/4" I.D., and that rule is in place for "Iron Ron's" quest to run the 2:15 straight. I think the 90 driver can do it!

Question; I have yet to mount my MG reds but have been practicing on some old YHCs. Are the Reds less grippy than the YHCs? For the enduro race will two NEW sets be required?
Not sure it matters since my prep for the race is lacking and the one other driver is on-the-fence like me at the moment. I hope there will be other enduro races throughout the season. Maybe Infineon will add a 4-cycle class to their enduro they just had - although I guess you can't mix 2 and 4-cycles so would need to be a separate day.

You can run an old set the whole time, it's up to each team. A maximum of two sets are allowed for the race, and some (NFRA Stallions) required only one set last year, then raced more on that same set on another day! We'll qualify on the first set, and get into the 2nd set during the 4 hour stretch. Just a few rules clarifications below that pertain to the event (under WKA rules) that need to be shared since some are not exactly clear:
Briggs Part # 557012 (WF Jet Kit) is acceptable-unaltered from known stock (not in the WKA ’14 rules)
Lash Caps (part # 557016) to be in place, and unaltered from known stock (not in the WKA ’14 rules)
Fuel catch cans mandatory, and in place to catch float bowl overflow (section 707.10.1)
Maximum I.D. of fuel lines @ 1/4", and connected in the most direct route possible (section 707.6)
Everything else translates nicely with the rules set NFRA uses. Let's get ready to RUMBLE!

Last year we had 4 drivers and we came in at certain time intervals but the tank still had plenty of gas in it each time. How much time does it typically take to get through the tank of gas?
I ran at Davis for 65 minutes. I stopped to fill up my small tank one time and then used about 1/3rd of it when my seat strut broken Up to the point the strut broke I felt pretty good physically, but then my body was wearing quickly because of the seat movement.
I like the fuel line reference to "most direct route possible". I can see a team wrapping up a seat, all along the chassis, around the fron fairing several times, and around the back bumper, ending at the engine. Maybe about 20 feet of fuel line.

65 minutes was a marathon for a guy that pushes a pencil...impressive! We had each driver on-track for an 80 minutes between pit-stops, and still had fuel in the tank. We ran 313 laps in total, so a little over 100 laps per stint for the driver. If memory serves correctly, about 45 seconds per lap. Yea, the element of introducing a pit-stop forces the team to be thought-out, and is quite exciting, kind of like a fire drill!

There you go, three drivers, two pit stops, one set of tires. All I want is brakes, full tank of gas, and some cones to steer her by

Is TEAM NFRA ready to rumble? Simon, do you guys need anything else in the way of parts/pieces? TEAM FASTECH is ready (1 regular guy & two stick men) & are hoping to repeat. We've secured a pit box for Jeff Haven & team next to us, will you be pitted fairly close in case we need some help? Motors are built, clutches have been rebuilt, and the kart will be assembled this weekend. I have an 2014 Briggs calendar for TEAM NFRA, compliments of the gang in Wisconsin. Dave shares a THANK YOU for making the WF, the motor of choice!
