I was just about to send out the "NFRA Race #5 is this weekend" post and checked the All Star Karting website, only to find they have cancelled the race. It was due to be a night race on Saturday. I know they had some logistic issues, so I guess they were not solvable.
I have family from the UK here, so was not going to be able to race anyway, but we need to decide what to do. Off the top of my head we have a few options :
1) Pretend it was never on our schedule and we just run 9 races in 2014 2) Race at Dixon this weekend (I believe the LO206s will be there) 3) Look for another date/track. Here are the options for August :
08/05/14 – 08/10/14 --- IKF 4-cycle nationals (Medford) 08/10/14 (Sun) --- Dixon Club Race 08/16/14 (Sat) --- Reno Race #6 Saturday Night Race 08/17/14 (Sun) --- PC Race #5 08/17/14 (Sun) --- Atwater Club Race #7 08/23/14 (Sat) --- Redding Club Night Race <<< This is already on our schedule
Any other ideas ?

Here's the explanation ...... "The State Park will only allow us to run until 10:30 and it only gets dark at about 9:15 which would not allow enough time to race. The expense for lights for 1 1/2 hours and the fact that we would have to pay for the Ranger to stay from 9-10:30 just doesn’t seem like a good decision. We will try to plan this for maybe next year during Daylight Savings when it gets dark earlier."

I was going to miss the race anyway because we are going out of town. With baseball over I finally have a breather until we start again in mid-August.

Well lets go down the list Simon- has family from out of town. Major family drama if he tries to go race Ron- A well deserved break after all the baseball Paul- Going to the NHRA in Sonoma this week end. Paul they don't even have to make a turn Brad- Still probably looking at his broken seat brackets on his kart Rich- I am still recovering from 4 days in the high country in Yosemite. Thunderstorms rained out all the climbing Scott- Long lost and missing I say we pretend it never was

Yeah I was going to miss this race anyway since I think it would safer if my seat were attached in more than two places. I'm also going to miss the next one as well. Going to the Brisol night race baby!

I vote to pretend it wasnt on the schedule. I wouldn't be able to make an extra race in August either.

Thanks Ron, but the struts aren't the problem. The issue is where the bottom of the seat connects to the kart just behind the gas tank. Each side is attached to a tab which then goes into a holey thingy on the frame. One of the tabs completely broke (I think I have one of those) while the other broke off the holey thingy where it attaches to the kart. So basically I was driving around with my seat only attached in 2 places with my assage bouncing off the burms/track.
I've already exhausted my monthly welding favor with Rich. Plus, when I got out of my kart in Redding I was throughly disgusted but tried not to show it and ruin the post race mood. At least it explains how we could have been running as a pack (except Rich) and then my kart started doing all kinds of strange things and there was no way I could keep up.

Brad, bring it on over. Just take the seat and motor off and bring the broken parts. We need the kart here to fix that other broken bumper anyway. We have lots of time before our next race. I can do it a little at a time. I am going on vacation first week in August I could tell you were disgusted at the end. Good thing Jeff was there with his magic margarita machine at the end of the nights racing
