From the Briggs Racing website .....
Briggs and Stratton Racing reacting to needs of their racer, shuffles their World Formula offerings for the first time since 2008. Effective immediately, a new World Formula spec, 124435 8106-01, is now available. This is the SAME base engine without the starter, flywheel starter ring gear, and clutch. “With the World Formula engine being raced in so many areas of motorsports outside of the FIA karting classification we wanted to release a model to cater to these racers”, stated David Klaus, Director- Briggs and Stratton Racing. “By removing components racers not always used we now have a price reduction of $200 to the suggested MAP price.”
The MAP price of the new 8106 spec will be $810.00.
In addition, our complete World Formula package, 124435 8104-01, will be update to a new model and type, 124435 8105-01 with the same MAP pricing of $1010.00. This will still be the same, complete World Formula package including our onboard electric starter system, clutch package, and exhaust pipe. Model 8104 is now NLA.
“Cost-effective racing, now even more so…………..”

That's amazing. A company that is thinking of their customers. Thank you Briggs and Stratton Racing.

Hey, that's cool! Short blocks are only available in the sealed 206 package, so forward we go.

That is a step in the right direction Dan. But keep working on them for a short or long block option.
Did you ever do the math on assembly cost of a long or short block only.
Thanks Dan

I did look into the cost of buying a shortblock, see below:
Block @ $98.00 Crank @ $62.00 Piston @ $60.00 Wristpin @ 5.00 Con rod @ $62.00 Cam @ $99.00 Lifters (2) @ $12.00 Freight @ $50.00
Total $450.00
Not a good option!

My suggestion is to do what the LO206 guys do. Run any clutch you want. I spoke to Kenny about this over the Davis weekend and he stated their class is free on what clutch they can run. He stated even they have moved away from the Premier Stinger (which is the stock clutch for that motor and a sister to the Titan). He said most are running clutches from Hillard and one other brand (that I forgot) and are happy with them. Might be Buller but not sure. The only problem (possibly) is that anyone who wants to compete in the Nats will obviously have to switch back to a Titan for that event.

Tthe problem with open clutch, just like open anything, is you will have people being able to spend their way to the front, Others will get something simple and cannot be competitive. You then lose them as a racer. I have no problem constantly blueprinting a disc clutch to optomize it I just don;t want to. I did that for my WF cltuch and have not had any problems except for the clanging noise which does not impact performance.
Clones were supposed to be box stock. Not anymore. Now you have to spend at least $750 to get everything needed to race a box stock class.
Although I would like more speed, the fact that we are all even when we race is fine by me.

Jeff had some suggestions at the weekend based on what the Animals are running. Jeff, can you chime in here ?
I would be happy to move to another clutch as long as we choose just one. Maybe give the option to use the Titan we have now (so not to screw anyone that money invested in them), or some alternate clutch for those that are sick of the random failures, random clanky engagement if you look at them funny, bearings walking out the side that we see regularly with the Titan.

Just to add another twist to the clutch debate. This last race was the first time I used the new clutch blueprinted by Bernie down in Arizona. I know mine was making some weird noises but was silky smooth all day. I will take mine apart and see what the noises were about
He has said it was ok to give out his contact info to any interested racers. He says he normally charges $30 plus parts to set it up. Shipping for me was $12.60 one way, so for around $ 56,00 to get your clutch setup.

I think it would be worth a shot for $56. Anything is an improvement. What's his number?

Also, did he mention what he did to improve the clutch?
