Have we settled on the tires we will be using next year for our championship season ? We discussed switching to Hoosier. Based on negative feedback on the Hoosiers the LO206 guys are going Bridgestone.
I have no desire to use Bridgestone given their love of switching up tire compounds mid season.
If Hoosier are proven to be good, durable and most importantly predictable in quality (I'm thinking of the fun we had with a certain other US tire manufacturer a couple of years ago), then I would support switching to Hoosier.
Or, stick with what we know works well and lasts, the good old MG Reds (unfortunately we can't get a bulk discount there).
Thoughts ?

Where did you see the negative feedback on the Hoosiers?
I don't mind using the Bridgestones. That means the person willing to spend the most on tires can win a Championship. I personally like the MG Reds. They are durable and reliable.

I still have a season's worth of Reds in the shop. Let's discuss an alternative to the Reds rather than a replacement.

Coming from a person with a brand new set of newly mounted & balanced MG Reds. ( Thanks to the rain at Sonoma ) I still think we should make the switch to Hoosiers. For several reasons; 1. It puts us more in line with what the other clubs are doing for tires 2. As far as I know Shasta Kart Club had no negative issues with Hoosiers, Shasta guys feel free to voice an opinion 3. I think we can get in on the group buy with Shasta Kart Club. Don't want to assume though, Dan, Jeff ?? 4. That's what they are going to run at any IKF sponsored race. Road Racing, Nationals ect... 5. There is very little difference from the Hoosier R60 and the MG Reds. Raced against them a lot at Redding last year 6. We can grandfather in the MG reds. Lets use up the Reds and make the switch to Hoosiers. 7. I won't go back to Bridgestones !!!!!

I vote for grandfathering in the Reds and going with the Hoosiers. Especially if the durometer and wear rate is approximately the same. Also, if some one wants to go to Nats, they'll have been used to racing on the Hoosiers as well as set up issues.

Geez, miss a few days, and one misses a bunch! Gotta agree, the plastic Bridgestones have been a challenge, but we do the best we can with what we've got. Paul...you are correct, same motor, but post-enduro variations were made. You can run that motor for the enduro, but will need to be freshened that will include a piston.
Gotta say, had the chance yesterday to see Rich in his element @ Sacto, the guy is quite the fabricator! Cutting, welding, the parts & pieces fit together quite nicely.
Merry Christmas Y'all, have a wonderful holiday, and a healthy & happy new year!

Just checking ... we all agreed we're switching to Hoosier and will grandfather in existing MG Reds for the 2015 season.
I am requesting anyone intending using up their supply of MGs to declare before the season starts how many sets you have to use up. You will then be allowed to use those declared tires but anyone buying new MGs after the season starts will not be allowed to use them. (Just in case the MGs prove to have an advantage over the Hoosiers, I don't want anyone buying more)
Also, start thinking about how many tires you want. We'll be organizing a group buy of Hoosiers. Contact me privately for details.

For the record, I have no tires that are capable of being raced effectively.

Lets face it Ron, we don't think you have a chassis that is capable of being raced effectively. / \ I have one and a 1/2 sets of MGs left

So, what tires are we using? Hoosier what? 60? 60A? I assume we are sticking with 6" rears? Man, I am trying to prepare and people are leaving me in the dark on the specifics.

Sorry Ron, our webmaster seems to be slacking, our rules package needs updating with the 2015 rules seeing as though we are only weeks away from the start of the season ;-)
The tires are :
Manufacturer : Hoosier Compound : R60 Front : 4.5/10.0-5 Rear : 6.0/11.0-5 We are grandfathering in MG Reds for those that still have them on hand and want to use them up. Anyone that has them needs to declare how many they have before the start of the season. We'll not allow people to go and buy new MG Reds.
So far Rich is the only person to have declared 1 1/2 sets of MGs to use up.
