I was at the Davis track clean up this weekend. Was getting a lot of pressure to race in this class. Leo and Steve were there and they both want us to be there. Sounds like there could be as many as 7 World Formulas racing. I am intrigued to see how this could play out. I know how we all feel about racing with other classes but this could be interesting. We have raced against these classes at close to the weight anyway. I for one think they have greatly underestimated the old fat guys in WFs
Not guarantying that I am going to race( it is 3 days before I leave for Mexico) but I am going to try

Is this a one off race, or are they racing this class at all the club races ? The website says it's a series.

I believe this is a class for the whole club season.

I certainly can't commit to racing all their club races. I'm on the fence, yes it has potential to be fun, but at the same time it has the potential to take your kart home all wadded up. You know my opinion of BS tires, so I'll not even go there ;-)
I'm curious if the KPX race we are doing there will be this format.

Did Steve or Leo say if they were going to race?

I am not suggesting that we all add this to our schedules more like throwing it out there so we all know it is available.
Leo and Steve both are going to race. Conrad just bought two WF motors off e-bay, Leo pointed out somebody else there that had just bought another WF. Evidently Mr. Bundy and two of his buddies in Stockton are going to race. I know we have heard this before only to have half of the people show up. But if a WF can win a couple of theses races you don't think that a bunch of clones and 206 racers aren't going to notice and go Mmmmm?
Bridgestones are the only downer to this whole deal!

Bridgestones are the only downer to this whole deal! A partial downer is the potential for wadding it up with the clones. I am thinking about it but I have an appointment in the late afternoon to do taxes. Racing versus taxes ........... Hmmmmmm

Though I am not active any more I am more than willing to throw an opinion out there. editors note: The opinions expressed are my own and in no way represent those of the NFRA or any of it's current members.
Mixing classes is a way to be inclusive and "play nice" when the kart counts are low. Historically the NFRA has been an inclusive minded bunch and over the years and has let anyone with 4 stroke come play. If there are 7 WF'S and 3 clones no sweat. Other way around is dangerous by about lap 10, and more than that is downright nuts.
Blue Max needs to do something to get their club numbers up, and this sounds like a jolly idea for those that have one of the approved engines with no where to run it. I personally (remember just my opinion) would not do it if committed to the NFRA series.

Brad42 used a lot of words to say what Simon said "it has the potential to take your kart home all wadded up". Sometimes I have a hard time avoiding attending train wreck.

In other news .... Remember when Prince changed his name to a squiggly sign ? Well, Rich is following in his footsteps and would now like to be known as "#-??- - -576790 -". At least that is what Race Monitor thought his name was today, so I assume he entered the race all incognito under his special new identity.

Great job #-??- - -576790 -. I was planning on going but then at the last minute I realized I needed BS tires.

Quick race report There was a huge turn out at Davis this weekend. 80 total kart count with 27 in the GT 4 cycle class. There were only 4 world formulas on the grid. So much for all those new WF racers. Myself, Leo, Bundy and Conrad. We upheld the WF honor pretty well. They gave us a ton of laps. 10, 16, 25 laps running without the hairpin. It was a little worrisome looking back on the grid and seeing 22 other clones & 206s and thinking about what the middle of the pack could be like. I decided that if I did not qualify on the front row I was going to go to the back. However I qualified on pole so the pressure was on. I guess I kinda walked away from the field on the first two heats but in the main Bundy got by me on turn 1 and I had to follow him right on his bumper for about 15 laps. Leo started sticking his nose in on a couple of corners so I had to get by Bundy and away from the rest of the pack. Got by him on a turn 2 pass and then got some distance between me and the everyone else. Started catching lap traffic by about laps 6 or so. Real similar to a Reno race where you are picking them off 1 or 2 at a time. The race director made a special point of talking about the blue flag and the corner workers were real good about warning karts about oncoming racers about to pass. Then I find out it is a money race so I went home with $200, I paid for my tires. But the whole point of being there was to get the WF motor package out there, I think we did a good job. Even at 400lbs I did not have to work hard to stay ahead of everyone. I must of talked to at least 20 people and explain what a WF was, cost, performance, and stuff. There was a huge crowd on the fence for the race and Sam was doing the announcing so we got some good exposure. There is no love lost between the clone and 206 crowd and I'm sure they did not like having an old man take away the overall win. But tuff nuts step up and buy a WF. What are they going to do make us run at 420 lbs.? Observations Do you know what the worst part about racing with clones and 206s is? They can't give you a push worth #^(("? on the start. Hence the start of the main They did tech at the end. Measured my rockers and pushrods? Almost caught my secret undersized titanium go fast pushrods? Put the clone &; 206 crowd in a WF and I do not think their behavior would change for the better. Leo, Steve , and Conrad are very interested in joining us for a few races this year.
