I went to watch the Blue Max 4-cycle GT race yesterday and helped Rich with some kart lifting and wrenching. There was some insanely good racing in both the GT class and the NorCal shifters. Rich, Leo and Wayne Bundy put on some very entertaining racing in the GT class, I'll let Rich summarize his day, but it wasn't at all plain sailing (especially when his kart stand tire suffered an unexpected hernia).
I have to give a shout out to Blue Max KC and everyone that was involved in the resurface ..... I have not driven it yet, but it looks fantastic ... much, much, much smoother, wider and some interesting re-profiling of some of the turns. I'm sure it's going to be like learning a new track all over again.

I completely forgot about the race. It was around 1pm on Sunday when I told my son, "I forgot there was a race today." I must be too busy or simply getting old. I will go with too busy.

Y The track is a huge improvement on the old track. Not perfect but still way better. It is my understanding that they are going to wait for a while and then go back with rollers and fine grinding to take care of any obvious imperfections. They have widened the back straight and a couple of corner areas. whole new lines are required in some of the corners Driving the track was very interesting. It was all over the place on practice but Sunday stayed cool and the track was a little more consistent. Started a burning off the front tires( a new one for me ) but then noticed our times were almost a second faster without working at it. So our corner speeds are going to be faster. A few front end adjustments and I had a set up that was comfortable. Not the turn out we had at the first race. Nor the result I was hoping for but it was good racing, and fun. Slower karts played a huge roll in the outcome. Congratulations to Leo for the win A sincere apology to Mr. Bundy #38 for seriously hard hit in the back that bent his bumper and eventually flattened his tire and cost him a position. It was my mistake and did not see that he had been slowed down by a really slow kart in front of him. Totally my mistake. You will have to clarify what is a good or bad race report Dan. Had put this in another thread already. In short Cliff notes this race included; Arguing in the grid Admitted jumped starts Almost DQs for being 1/8" to wide in the back X drivers making themselves into launching ramps on the front straight Air born Wfs on the front straight, bent axles Heated arguments in the pits Split front rims, bent back bumpers, flat tires, DNFs Some fun racing between trusted WF drivers In others words, a normal clone race ??

Ya know Rich, even reading between the lines, I failed to find the words "fun" or "enjoyable", seemingly void were "happy" adjectives??!! Did you get my text on the front tire wear, and did it help>?

I think you were reading between the lines quite well Dan. You will have to get Simon's opinion on the front straight air born display. The race is a lot easier when you just stay out I front Thank you for the reply. Some times you are just looking for confirmation of what you are thinking already. I took the positive camber way beyond what I would have. Worked great, and tires looked great

Come join us in Sonoma for the June 20th race, along w/ other NFRA guys. I promise "F" words will be flyin' around, that only require 3 letters to spell correctly!

Interesting, and nice job big dog! Did you start w/ Stickers for qualifying? Why in the heck did you run your fastest lap on #20, it took that long for tires to come in?

Tires were three races old
Had very few laps with clear track in front of me
Fastest lap was when I decide to put some pressure on Mr.Bundy. Plan was to follow for a while then push him hard the last few laps. Ah the plans of men and mice

I guess with the race report, and the DNF's, and DNS's is was good that I stayed home. I already have stuff on my kart I have not fixed in a year. That would have just given me more stuff to fix.
Baseball may be coming to a close sooner than I want. We play on 5/26 in loser's bracket of Tournament of Champions. Only 5 out of 12 of my players are hitting, and other are looking for walks. When you have pitchers throwing fastballs dead center you cannot look for walks.
