I disassembled my clutch to see what could have caused binding. I found the snap ring retaining the sprocket inside the drum had partially come out of its groove. As a result the bell was no longer parallel to the shoes.
Unfortunately the spacer that sits between the snap ring and bell is toast. The spacer isn’t present on my old clutch so I will need to find a replacement spacer in order to save the clutch. Any suggestions as to who might have the part?

Is that the felt or paper spacer that we were looking at from Rich's clutch? Can you post a picture of it so we know what you need. I know I have several different spacers but do not know what one you are looking for. My "different" clutches had different spacers. I have since found out that some of my clutch parts I ordered say World Formula but are in fact NOT World Formula.

I'll post one tonight. The spacer is not shown on the noram drawings (of course). It sits between the drum (#01600717) and the snap ring (#01900433) for sprocket/drum endplay. The felt washer (also not shown) goes between the washer (#02400116) and sprocket (#14009XX) for drum assembly/hub endplay.

My old clutches did not come with that spacer. The last two did. I think it was needed because of differences between the drivers and drum thicknesses. The spacers do not even fit all that well for what they are being used for. I cannot find a part number for those spacers either
Another example of the quality control and consistency of this clutch
Scott, with the finding of two cracked hubs in my clutches I now have two boxes of basically parts. You are welcome to any of mine

I think I have several of those, but I don't think mine sit behind a "snap ring". Mine has the spring type that wraps around more than once. I will go through my stuff tonight and send some measurements to see if it is the right part. If it is I can mail them to you. I have a baseball game tonight so it may be late.

"Snap ring" per the drawing but the retainer Ron describes is what is actually used. Thanks for the offers. Seems we need a community clutch parts bin.

You are talking about the "new" version of the clutch, right Scott? If so, I've got one of those POS *(#&&@_#$$ clutches. You can have the whole d**n thing as far as I'm concerned. I know I'll never use it again. I've got an 8 year old clutch that works better than that POS.

Last year I bought a brand new clutch and we were going to use it in the Enduro. It was horrible and we swapped it out. I left it like an abandoned stepchild with Simon. I understand Simon frankensteined it to use.
