Looks like FOTA needs a new governing body. How about we, the NFRA (Norcal F1 Racing Association), step up to the plate and fill the void?

No Max? No Bernie? wow.
We would have 3 USGPs (East, Central and West). Have IndyHondas as the feeder series, maybe even run them together.
all we need is a bizillion dollars to kick it off, it will pay for itself in a few years.

FOTA is the Formula One Teams Association, who have threatened to split from F1 as a alternate series. Normally this would be ho hum, except that the top teams are the ones threatening to leave, leaving F1 with nothing but underfunded sub-teams that actually buy a lot of their stuff from the top teams (ie engines & chassis).

No more threats. FOTA announced their departure first thing Friday AM. And we don't need a bizillion dollars; we need somebody to loan us a bizillion dollars. Worked for Bernie, why not us?

Yeah - Laguna Seca (West), Mid-Ohio (midwest), & Watkins Glen (East). No more Max & Bernie (insert bigger YEAH here)! What suks is we are reliving the whole IndyCar/CART nightmare all over again. (uuurg!)

That's the fear but I don't know if IRL/CART is the right comparison. They were trying to split crumbs.
The Bernie circus will continue to go to Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, India, and the other government funded venues to empty grandstands in order to feed the massive loans. FOTA will be free to go to where people actually care about the race (US, Canada, UK, France, South Africa). F1 is abandoning these markets so FOTA would be the only game in town.

Personally I would like to see Kyalami brought back. That was an exciting track back in the day. Some of F1's greatest battles took place there. BernieMax can have those tracks. They have no soul. F1 needs the tracks that bring the pucker factor.

Personally I would like to see Kyalami brought back. That strikes a chord with me. I grew up as a kid in South Africa and my father was a big time racing fan. We went to Kyalami many, many times and I have great childhood memories of all sorts of races in the early 70s. My brother has created a 'kyalami shrine' here ... kyalami.homeip.net/kyalami/ ... with all the photos he and my dad took in those days. Sadly a lot of the old track has gone and the new one only uses a few corners from the old track. That HUGE downhill straight is no more, but yes, it would be great to see F1 (or whatever the breakaway series will be called) running there again.
