Our process is to get the members together and vote. I can't make the race and would prefer an evening teleconference.
I encourage you all to review the proposal before the meeting. Feel free to add your comments to the Clone Rules Comments Thread in the Members Section. If you don't have the proposal please send me a PM.

The clone rules comments thread in the members section never really took off, so I would say right here and now is the place to add your comments. I have reviewed the proposal and still have the same lingering question. Can someone, anyone, please explain the reasoning behind the proposed changes to the AKRA rules?
Stroke change add min/max - why? Change the wire diameter of the valve springs, why ? OK use of aluminum head gasket....why? Change fasteners...what's wrong with OEM?
What or maybe better yet who are these changes serving... and why should we clone racers care?
The AKRA rules are simple and straight forward. Any time a problem materializes AKRA is quick to amend the rules, always with consideration to safety and the original "Spirit & Intent" of the class, not by caving to any one special interest group or manufacturer that would benefit from the change.

OEM fasteners - The engine manufacturers don't offer replacement fasteners. Harbor Freight is a retailer and not the original equipment manufacturer. That replacement bolt purchased at Home Depot is illegal according the AKRA rules. The change recognizes that the source of fasteners will not impact performance. Al head gasket - Once the thickness is specified, the gasket material is unimportant. The change allows AKRA and BNSS compliant racers to race under the NFRA banner. Wire diameter - Doubtful AKRA or BNSS got a hold of the factory drawings. The difference in specified diameters is therefore likely due to sampling and measurement error (noise). Max tension is specified so performance is controlled. And the change allows AKRA and BNSS compliant racers to race under the NFRA banner. Stroke - As for wire diameter, the difference is likely noise. The change allows AKRA and BNSS compliant racers to race under the NFRA banner. These examples reflect the general intent of the proposed changes - to correct areas that are over specified (not performance related) and to permit both AKRA and BNSS racers to run with NFRA. And who do these changes serve? Well us actually (paulskirocks - cue up the cumbaya .

Ohhhhhh NOW I'm tracking with you Scottie. What Scott is getting at here is, if the AKRA rules are adopted as is, over a short period of time many of you guys will be illegal. I think you make an excellent point Scott. If any of you haven't reviewed the proposed amendments to the AKRA rules contained the rules proposal, please contact Scott (norcalacr) for a copy. Perhaps we can discuss the proposal at the race and then setup a conference call for a vote the following week.
