One of the things I could see right off in the warmup laps, and confirmed in the race is that Duffy's kart is tighther than heck.

Video from the night race has been uploaded. Unfortunately, we only have the heat race. vimeo.com/6476636I like that a lot. Watching everyone spin off on the out lap is very entertaining !

Sorry about the poor job of filming the heat race guys. Poor job? Whatchu talk'en bout Duffy?! You did a great job! And I hope everyone who raced that night appreciated you taking one for the team by spinning in the hair pin late in the race just so you could give a good chunk of the field some face time on camera as you patiently allowed traffic to get by you before safely re-entering the track!

Cool video.
Not having raced the clone engine before it makes me wonder if there is a big variance on engine power as it looked like the front runners had a definite power advantage on Duffy.
What do you guys think?

What do you guys think? As I said above, Duffy's kart was tight. He had the classic engine bog on turn in that is indicative of that. It is not that his engine has less power than the others, it is that his engine works harder from the instant the steering wheel starts to turn. Watch the video again and you will see, it even does it in the warmups, but is painfully clear on turns 1 & 2 after the real green flag drops.

I see it now and you can hear the engine bog.
thats crazy the 1st time I watched it I thought he must have been loose because of the couple of times he spun out.
The spins must have been due to power too early or too much brake?
It also seemed odd that seveal guys spun out during the warm up and the race.

Funny thing about being really tight. When you are driving (or watching video in this case) you'd swear that the kart was loose when in fact it is actually tight. What happens is because the kart won't turn well you continue to give it steering input until it DOES turn. Unfortunately, at some point all that extra steering input causes the kart to snap around, hence the term snap loose. LOL when I got into karting I had this problem all the time until I started to be able to distinguish between loose and tight. It isn't too odd that there was some spinning going on during the warm up lap. Tires are very cold at that point and being so late in the day the track itself has begun to cool quite a bit. Throw in the fact that the clones generally run on tires that are pretty much used up and you have a recipe for squirrellyness.

Have any of you set up Guru's watched Duffy's left foot every time the moter slows or the kart swaps ends? Looking at the steering wheel, the kar seems to be turning in very well and coming of the turns with little steering efert. The moter drops RPM's befor the turns. Tight? Maybe the brakes! Did you know that Duffy improved his lap times .9 sec in the main after narowing the back to 47.5in. Also note he is still leaning to the inside of the turns, not the fast way. Look at the whole picture and see whats realy going on. Power to early? BSC moters only make 7.5-8hp on there best days, unless....... see you at the races!

Thanks Everyone for all the help with trying to find out why or what is wrong with me or my kart during the race. Now lets be truthful about it. Number 1 My kart was so much better after the 1st heat and the rear end was narrowed by Scott. This did help me allot and during the main I did better, Thinking it was the 2 heat, I was running around the track just warming up and not trying to win just tryin to get better with my driving thinking that this was the 2 heat and I had the main to do yet. But as I learned it was the main and not the 2nd heat. My Kart was running good. The real problem is that I'm a bit slower with learning and doing the right thing at the right time, coming into and going out of turns for example. I'll get it down, it will just take a bit longer than it took you. but when I do get it down watch out. To sum it up, Its my driving and I'm working on it. I do want to thank everyone who has helped me and hope you who have helped won't stop helping me. really I need it and appreciate all the help. I'm out there to win but most of all and most important is that I'm spending time with my son's having fun. And i'm really having fun...I'm sure everyone understands, Thanks again Guys.

Yep, it's easy to be an armchair analyst... I say seek advice from the fast guys, as they seem to know how to get around a track. The trouble is, no two fast guys agree, either... All I almost know is: Don't ask me, I don't know!
