My carb inlet has a lot of dirt in there. I'm guessing my foam filter sat above the rear tire isn't really doing the job very well. What's the best (as in it actually filters the air) filter I can get ? I seem to remember Karl had something pretty trick on his.
Simon.

Hi Simon, The K&N filter with the filter cover worked pretty well on my F200. Sorry I don't have a part number but I know a number of the guys run them.

Foam air filters only filter as good as they are oiled, type of oil used and how often they are cleaned or serviced. I'm running the 2 stage Uni filter, mainly because I always had good luck with them on my dirt bikes. I like to keep it oiled real well with the Uni filter oil so I know that dirt is not getting into my engine. I also like the K&N with an outerwear, but can get 2 Uni's for the same price. I read somewhere recently the 10 dollar K&N knockoffs are not very good. They're ok for qualifying but will not keep dirt out of your engine no matter how often you clean them, or how well they're oiled.

Personally I can not stress this enough. I lost two engines at Any-thinger due to what I can suspect "dirt" or sand in the combustion chamber. Look at mylaps and check mine to Karl's! I ran the K&N knock off with oil and I got enough "dirt" into the cylinder to wipe out the ring. I did not have a filter on the Oil breather also. The next engine will have the double Uni filter and a filter on the breather.

Jason, wow, I remember you saying you were changing motors I didn't realize you went through #2. I can't remember if it was you or mike D. said buy the motor for $95 and the two year warrenty for $40 if it "blows" take it in and get it replaced, "What a Deal" or is that a secret....you might want a better piston and rings (http://www.affordablegokarts.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=A&Product_Code=ARC1982P120&Category_Code=GGPP5) $95 for piston & rings or the throwaway motor Hmmmmm'.....My F200 has the same piston and rings from Wiesco and it lasts all season or longer. just something too think about?
