I have been kibitzing on this site for a couple of months. Finished my clone project and drove it at Davis yesterday( Yes in the rain, laughing the whole time ) Looking foward to the coming season. Been out of racing for over 25yrs.
A couple of questions
Am I going to need any lower gearing than a 15/60 4.0 ratio for any of the local tracks? A 60T is the largest I can get on my extremly tight TrackMagic
Any suggestions on a supplier of metric hardware, nuts, & bolts in the local Sac area? What about 4 cycle parts?
Thanks

Hi Rich, Welcome aboard!
I get MOST metric stuff I need from Orchard supply or ACE hardware, but there is some stuff you can only get from a kart dealer. Not sure where you are to recommend the nearest TrackMagic dealer.
"4cycle parts" is a tad generic, we have had inconsistent track support for things such as #35 gears and chains, most of the motor bits are self-supported by the other racers. That is one of the reasons we try to all pit together at the track, so you don't have to run all around tracking down spare parts. We won't let you miss a race for some little peice of hardware!

Welcome Rich to the world of clone racing. Your going to have a great time with all of us four cycle guys, Everyone helps each other and we have a fun time. I have two sons John & Mike and we all race clones, Mikes at work right now, he is the clone rep. when he gets home tonight, I'll let him know your new to clones and have a couple of questions. Again, welcome and see you at the races. Duffy # 48

Rich - welcome to the NFRA and NorCal 4 cycle racing. In regards to metric bolts, nuts and fasteners, there is no better selection available in the Sacramento area than Rainbow Fasteners in downtown Sacramento. This place is the Mecca of all things nuts & bolts. They have every grade of fastener you can imagine and then some! If you want selection, this is the place. Brad42 is correct though in that sometimes its best to support your local Kart shop for kart specific hardware. Website: www.rainbowfasteners.com/Address: 300 N. 12th Street If you need to contact Trackmagic directly: 5458 Gateway Plaza Blvd. Benicia, CA. 94510 877.205.7836 info@trackmagic.com If I'm not mistaken, Leading Edge Motorsports is the nearest dealer and can be contacted here: Shop Address: Leading Edge Motorsports 2501 South Stockton Street - Suite B Lodi, CA 95240 Shop Electronic Contact: Phone: 1.209.369.0921 Fax: 1.209.369.3243 Email: leadingedgeguy@sbcglobal.net Anyways, welcome to the fray - yer gonna love it! ;D Paul Viacrucis NFRA F200 #99

Thanks for the leads
Brad, I already had to cut off the seat support that came up directly into the clutch. Fabricate and weld on new strut. Fabricate custom curved upper seat strut around the motor
No more cutting
