Engine misfiring problems

Help,

I am having engine misfiring problems. Runs great for 5/6 laps then won't pull past 3000rpm, stuttering all the way to the pit exit.

Going to drain the tank, install new filter, clean out the carb, new gas

Briggs & Stratton have a book called Small engine Care & Repair that may be helpful. I hope this will help you out sorry I cant do more. you may be able to find it at a book store or local college book store that has small engine repair classes.

Thanks, Found the problem. Bits of dirt or grit would get sucked up into the main jet. They must of then dropped out only to be sucked up again. Installed new filter, new gas, blew out carb. Has run fine since
