Hi all,
I ordered a race ready clone engine that comes with a jet drilled at 38. They will change that if I want and so I am asking what is the best size jet for basic all around use?
Second, they asked if I wanted a race legal cam for the engine and I didn't think we were using cams in our clones but I wanted to ask. Should I get a cam as well?
By the way, the clone was $259.95 plus shipping. You just have to add the clutch and mount.
TIA, Terry

Hi Terry,
Thats a great price you got there on your engine. I recently got another one from Tom Cole at ARC and it was still $350 + shipping.
The #38 jet is a good all around jet and I find myself using it around 80% of the time. You will be fine with the 38.
As far as the cam goes are refering to the CL1 or CL1m stock cams that are now being allowed in BSP (Box Stock Project) racing? I think most all of the Yellow Box Stock engines are now being sold with them and it's my understanding that as long as your stock cam meets the Camshaft Requirements below it is legal:
Camshaft Requirements: Stock as cast camshaft only. Cam lobe base circle diameter .865" -.005”/+.010” Duration check for Intake and Exhaust lobes (taken off pushrod). Intake duration of 218.5 degrees at .050 lift/85.5 degrees at .200 lift. Exhaust duration of 221.5 degrees at .050 lift/96.5 degrees at .200 lift. (All checks will allow +2 degrees for wear and gauge variances.)
Max Intake lift on cam .225” taken at the pushrod. Max Intake lift at the valve .238” Taken on valve spring retainer with zero lash. ****************************************** Max Exhaust lift on cam .232” taken at the pushrod. Max Exhaust Lift at the valve .242” Taken on valve spring retainer with zero lash.

It shipped on Friday ground from GA. Don't know if I'll get it in time for the weekend. If not no prob...the engine I've got is good enough for this old gal!
