I got some new tires and need to mount them. Can whoever won the tire changing tool at the banquet please bring it with them to Dixon this weekend so I can borrow it? I know tire mounting is supposed to be fairly easy, but I seem to be struggling a bit in the garage. Also - it seems both my rear wheels got damaged in the hit I took in the main at PC so I had to trash them. Anyone have any used 5"D x 6"W, 3 x 58mm pattern wheels they want to sell? I prefer black but will consider polished if in good shape.

Tire changing tool? Do you mean a bead breaker?
I've got some spare wheels (black even) but I'm not sure what the bolt pattern is. I DO know they won't fit on my hubs so maybe they will work on your Emmick?

Actually, I have the bead breaker tool which works great. I'm having problems mounting the tires to the rims. I thought Todd donated one of those fancy tire mounting tools to the raffle and someone won it. Maybe I'm just trippin'. I think I will try warming the tires in the oven and try remounting them. If that doesn't work, I know a Dixon member that has a trick little tool that will do the job.
Brad - please bring the wheels to Dixon and I will check if they fit. thanks, bud.

Tire Wiz... There are other, more expensive tire tools, which are easier, but it works well for me...

I don't use a tool other than bead breaker. After that, when the tires are warm (pliable) then you turn the beads into each other and pry them off the rim.

SUCCESS! ;D The front tires are mounted and ready to go. I used the oven trick and it worked perfect. Its not the dismounting I was struggling with; I have the RLV bead-breaker tool. It was mounting that was a pregnant dog. Turns out I was trying to do it in a cold garage and the rubber stiffened up. Once I baked them for a few minutes at 170 degrees, they mounted quite easily. I will deal with the rears at Dixon when I get there.
See y'all @ the track this weekend,
-Paul
