After having a leaky core on my tire last weekend I wanted to find replacement stems cores but I am clueless about this stuff. : Are there different types? Where do I get the ones that fit into our karting tires? Any suggestions on what shop to send away for them? Thanks! Terry

The valves are standard schrader valves so you should be able to find replacement cores/stems at auto part or tire stores. Before replacing try tightening the core. That often does the trick for me.
You might also try soapy water to see if it's the stem or bead locks leaking at the rim.

Yes, oftentimes when mine are losing pressure a quick tighten will solve the problem.

I also had one where the seat of the valve stem that actually is touching the rim was drying out and leaking. Pushing the valve stem one way and then the other (with soapy water) sometimes reveals leaks. Sometimes it is just better to buy new valve stems.
The valve stem cores come in packages with multiple cores in them. Buy a pack or two, they are cheap and through them in the tool box, along with the core remover tool.
Be careful taking the core out if the tire has air in it. The core can fly out and hit you if it slips off the tool when the last thread holding it lets go. It won't hurt much but (1) you can lose it, (2) you will get it dirty, or (3) it can hurt your eye.
