Saturday night I went out to the Vallejo Fairgrounds for the speedway motorcycle races with my son Matt (Thanks Karl!!!) They ran an exhibition race for clone karts between the heats on the 1/6 mile clay oval, The Emmick boys were there and put on a great show for about 300 spectators. The announcer would fill the fans in on the low cost of clone racing and how you can buy the motors at Harbor Freight, Matt and I overheard 4 or 5 fans talking about how they could afford to race clones. After the race we went to the Emmick pits and there were quite a few people driling the boys on cost and where to buy equipment. What a great way to spread the news on clone racing! Sorry no pics of the clones, but I found a youtube video of the track. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCAfic1PkVQ

Those speedway tracks can be a blast in a kart, as long as they are clay. Many speedway tracks are Decomposed Granite (think large grained sand) which doesn't work as well.
Hats off to the Emmick guys for doing this.

Sure would be fun to try that sometime. I was talking to Dave G and I understand they run just about every week on a dirt track in someone's back yard (I believe he said Ron Emmick?). I'd love to be able to walk out my back door and jump in my kart. LOL

I think they have 2 or 3 private dirt tracks between them, Cory Gwin's kart was carrying an extra 20-30lbs of mud "ballast" when he got there! There was some talk from the promoter about running a clone only race if there is enough interest.
