Hi All,
I've been lurking here for a while. This is my 1st post. I am putting a clone together (just ordered a motor from ARC Racing). I have a '08 Birel RX30 chassis I purchased from Dan Chase.
I'm quite light (~125 lbs.) so I will need quite a bit of lead to get me up to the 360 or so lbs. required.
Can anybody recommend a good (cheap) local place to get the lead I need? (Shipping lead is expensive!) Also, where would be the best place(s) to mount it on the Kart?
I'm also in need of a used kart stand. I like the "Hitch Hiker" style or possibly an "RLV". Does anybody have one available?
Thanks, Mark

I found lead on craigslist. i know many people who need a lot buy barbell weights as well. you can mount in a lot of places but if you need a bunch of weight it is probably mostly going to end up on your seat.
I have a stand but I am not sure what type it is. Standard 2 post with a tray underneath for extra stuff. Let me know if you are interested.

Wheel balance weights are a cheap source of lead - tire shops, salvage yards, even the dump. Avid fishermen are another source.
Where are you? I bought a used kart that was loaded with BB-sized lead pellets. You're welcome to it.

I know lincoln. i work in sac and live in Woodland. My stand is similiar to #2. Yea, a trailer definitely helps for getting all the stuff from here to there.

if there happens to be any lead left over i could really use some as well. Also does anyone happen to have a beacon that I can either buy off them or borrow for a day, I am planning on practicing at Davis tomorrow and want a beacon so I can test and tune. Thanks for all the help. Also what kind of VW are you wanting to autocross? I was just curious.
