Hi,
My motor arrived! Now I have some very basic (dumb) questions. I have a '08 Birel MX30 chassis and a "Yellow" clone engine.
The questions:
Does the clutch mount with the sprocket facing the seat or the motor (I think the seat.)?
I have the 15 degree motor mount from BMI. Does anyone have a picture of this in their kart? (So that I can see how to attach it to the chassis.)
I have a third rear (middle) axle bearing. Should I mount this, or leave it off? Or, put it in, but not bolt it down?
What is a good initial tire pressure to run?
Thanks in advance for the help. I'm sure that I'll have lots more questions as my kart assembly continues.
Mark

Welcome Mark! Good to hear you're close to getting out there and joining in the fun. The clutch is usually mounted whichever way provides the best (easiest) fit. Some folks will tell you outboard sprocket is faster. If you have a Noram clutch you may have to re-clock the shoes when switching directions. Some good pics of the BMI mount on karts can be found here (Thanks Travis) nevadaclonekarting.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=chassistech&action=display&thread=66Don't bother with the 3rd bearing, just leave it off completely. Starting with 18 lbs tire pressure all around will be fine, you can adjust from there. ~Karl
