Well, I have decided to bring the Animal to Davis with you guys this month, as our next local race is May 17, and that is too far away. I know that the Animals and WFs on that track are really close, so I might be able to keep BradW in my sights... If there is a practice day that Saturday, I'll make that , as well...

It will be great to have everyone at Davis.
As for me, I sat in my kart, cranked on the steering wheel, and hit the steering wheel with my hand. Hurt a little bit but the stitches didn;t move. They are coming out tomorrow and I will be cleared to race. Just like the TV commercial with the little kid going to Disneyland "I'm too excited to sleep."

I was poking around, and I see that there are a few possible configurations at Davis. Is there a track map available, and do you know which track it will be?

While there might be a couple of POSSIBLE configurations, the reality is 99.9% of the time they will run the biggest track. I've never seen them use the cutoff on the west end and the only time I've ever been there for a race when the east end was used was when they ran the track backwards (and that was only on the start).

Track map doesn't help much because of elevation and camber changes. And of course the infamous "bumps".

Three (3) magnetic strips. Although I don't make the decision on track layout, most crossovers use full track. As for a track map just google map it and then go to satelite. You'll see big loop corner (turn 1). The track is usually run counterclockwise. Clockwise is considered backward. Inside the middle of the track is a old beat up area. That is an old track that is not used. If you look close on satelite you can see the line from the tire marks.

Pit spots for tomorrow-it will be pretty crazy out there trying to find a pit spot. The main pits (where we pitted last time) may have a spot or two but there will be no way we'll all be able to pit together. We used to pit over by the hair pin at the end of the back straight. Those spots are usually gone by Friday. Last year we found a spot that worked out pretty good and has plenty of space. If you walk from the scale house across the length of the main pits, make an immediate left at the porta potties, go over about 30' of gravel/broken up asphalt (and slightly uphill) you will come to a relatively flat section of hard packed dirt. That's were I'm planning on setting up. see ya'll tomorrow!

Yep - W's right - the Pits are packed! just came from there and its tight, tight, tight! I got lucky to get my upper paddock pit spot when I rolled in at 10:00am today. The upper paddock is no res, first come, first serve and its probably filled as of this writing. Just drop it wherever you can. No chance the NFRA will be pitted together. I'm 3 spots down from Scott Smith in the middle (laid down some pink tape with my name on it. Hope it holds up). Weather is frikin' awesome! Gotta jet fer now. Going to my son's B-day party at the bowling alley. See ya'll tomorrow, -Paul#99
