Well, I just returned from Davis... Paul V beat David Gwin for the F200 trophy. I blew both of the qualifying laps, so I started right behind Brad W's WF, and with John's WF next to me and my stock Animal. Scott (I believe is his name?? with his Animal F200 started next to Brad W. Fortunately, I got by the Animal F200 and brought a KT100 with me, leaving John and the Animal F200 to do battle. Thus, the battle up front was Paul V and David Gwin, and the next battle was BradW and me for 3rd and 4th overall. I could never get around him, but we were drafting down the straights, and I was all over him in the corners. Brad W's kart was having over steer issues, while my chassis was really working well. This was a race that was all about qualifying, because Brad W and I are so close in speed. He has a lot more racing experience than I, but I am getting there! I look forward to getting a WF, but the Animal seems to hang in there well, now that I figured out to make my chassis work... I gotta say, John is a madman! But, he is getting close to being able to run with us, and it was only his third race ever in a kart. John also had some chassis handling issues. So, next practice, we are going to see if we can do some tuning on John's and Brad's chassis, as well as mine. It's going to be some really close racing once John gets up to speed. ;D So, It was a great time for me, and am looking forward to PC next month.

Since my engine broke just prior to qualifying I elected to sit out rather than risk damage to the engine. I got a great vantage point at the top of the hill by turn 3. Great racing you guys. I have been wanting to know what the inside of my engine looked like and soon I will find out.
I think I wore the wrong shirt to the track. It stated "Been There Wrecked That". I went to the track with three karts (F200, KT100, and my son's Kid Kart). My son's Kid Kart is the only one that raced all laps and is still running strong. Both my karts are out of commission and in need of repair. Now I have to do more than put air in the tires and gas in the tank. (I know someone will say I ran out of air on first practice, but the valve stem was bad, really!)

Ron definitely won the "Can anything ELSE go wrong" award. I've had some really crappy days at the track but jeez, I've never had one like yours. Felt for ya man.... Dave also had some issues with his F200. He blew out the head gasket (in 2 places) and didn't have a spare. Luckily Scott Smith came through with a spare so he could run. Seems Emmick ordered a BUNCH of stuff from Burris 3 weeks ago and haven't received squat yet (I TOLD them not to tell Mike Brad referred them LOL). Really too bad since they are trying to stock F200s parts to support the class. They can't even get friggen tires. As Paulski said, there some some good racing going on. I only wish we had the rest of the regular F200 pilots out there. Hurry back guys! PaulV, did you the those pics I sent you? Oh, and no one has mentioned yet how "well" the day went from a time management perspective. As you know, we are normally qualifying by 10am. Unfortunately, there were all kinds of issues with the timing/scoring system. We had THREE practice sessions and didn't start racing till about 3pm! Didn't have a heat race at all and the main was TWENTY-FIVE laps!

Time Management was not the issue. I know generally what the problems were and they had nothing to do with the people that actually worked the race day. Based on the problems that surfaced those that worked the race did an awesome job. Those that worked were fixing problems that surfaced because of the failures of a few prior to race day. It took an enormous amount of patience and determination for them to work through it.
Interestingly, there were also some computer gremlins that arose on the morning of race day that did not exist days prior to race day. Did you notice the wire across the start/finish line. For some reason (although it NEVER happened before) the computer could not read the track magnetic strips. One has to wonder how so many computer problems surfaced at one time, at one race. I assure you we are looking into it.

Brad - I got the pics. Thanks a bunch. I responded back with which photo to post. Man - I felt like a Marine out there yesterday. Adapting and changing as the day wore on. What a ride it was though. My karts handling was crap all day until I found out my chassis was bent at the R/F corner. Then I got Mark Filkill and Dave Gwin to jump on it and twist it back into shape. Then during the main, it was a completely transformed machine. I could actually drive the bleemin' thing! Wadda ya know, no more front end plow after the chassis was tweaked. Learnt me sumpin' new about corner weighting yesterday. Turns out you NEED to have the weight EVENLY distributed across the front for the kart to actually turn in a corner. Dang! hooda thunk?! Made the kart actually fun to drive again. Ron - make sure you get someone to add a local administrator account to Blue Max's laptop so you guys don't have that problem anymore if the sec. leaves the club again. Also, Scott Smith left his transponder at the track last night and someone gave it to Doc (I hope someone can return it to him at the PC x-over race). I wish we all could have pitted together like usual but I did make some new friends which is always good too. Randy and his daughter pitted next to me which was cool. Christiana saw the day-glo tywraps on my rear axle and she thought they were pretty so now she wants them on her kart too. Randy and I got a great chuckle out of that cause now he's like "Paul, see what you did? Now Christiana wants her kart to be pretty just like yours" Looking forward to the PC x-over. Hope more of the NFRA drivers can make it out. I'll have to pass on the practice 2 weeks before as I have some financial obligations in May and I will be on one of my 2 annual business trips (I'm going to DidneyLand!) woo hoo! see ya, -PV

A local administrator account issue is the least of our worries. The issues are starting to be aired on Norcal Karters, and I am preparing to address what happened. Even with the local administrator account information things still did not work.
Doc's number is on the Blue Max website. He can call Doc directly to get it, or have Doc bring it to me at our next Board meeting on May 6, 2009. I plan on running PC Crossover and can bring it.

Thanks for the post Mitch. I'm not sure what the deal is?? I've never heard of a problem getting anything from Burris before. I think most of the local guys are buying their tires directly from Burris because it is quicker that buying them locally (and they answer the phone). Emmick is trying to build up a parts inventory for the F200 so they can provide track support. I think they are starting to get a little frustrated. Since they are the only local shop willing support the F200 it would be a shame if Burris blows them off because of loyalty to other shops that don't even show up at the track anymore.

We were ordering from Burris yesterday and Garett mentioned the thread to Mike or Kurt (don't know which) anyway Burris was very surprised there was a parts order issue. Burris was going to follow up with Emmick Cobra to find out why they are not receiving orders. I know Burris like all of our other suppliers have been going overboard to provide customer service.
FYI our fastest growing adult classes are F200 Super Sportsman and KT 100 Sportsman, I am sure this is due to the reasonable cost compared with Rotax and Shifters and the outreach to drag and short track racers. Now we if we can have a race day with out rain we would be golden. BTW the F200 in the wet is a blast.

I talked to Dave at E/C on Friday afternoon and he said someone from Burris called the day before and told them their order would be there sometime next week. Still seems strange it would take them 4 weeks to get an order. ?? Hopefully they ordered some head gaskets as Dave told me he blew out a second one.
Oh, and we've been battling some weather out here as well. So you had fun in the rain? ;D I ran my first race in the rain this weekend at Thunderhill. Quite the ahhhhhhhhh, experience. LOL I posted some video of the race in the Road Racing section.
