I talked to Sam from Prairie City for a bit when we were waiting for the 50/50 raffle to happen at Dixon. I asked him if he found anything not kosher in any of the engines he claimed this season and he said "no". All were legal. One had some evidence of casting flash removal inside the crankcase but Jason declared it legal, One had a carb that is definitely faster no matter what motor he put it on, but there is no logical reason as to why.
Just thought I'd let you folks know this. I am still not a fan of claiming.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
I still believe the claimer rule is the only thing we have between what we have now and a $1000 clone motor. The fact that the claimed motors have been proved legal is fantastic! That should encourage those not winning races to understand that driver skills and chassis setup skills really make the difference.
