On the rules confrence call we kinda tabled wieghts and stuff on Jr classes until we got some data, Time is ticking and I havent got much done, we have a bout 3 cadets and 4 Jr 2 clone karts here at Stockton, we need to look at class wieghts and restrictors, a buddy found this on the Internet from T & T Raceway in Ill
CLONE ROOKIE Age: 7-12 years old Rules: CIK body work or 4cycle style body work, AKRA Rules Tires: Open Tire but must be 4.50 Fuel: 87 Octane Weight: 275 lbs
CLONE JUNIOR Age: 12 - 15 years old Rules: CIK body work or 4cycle style body work, AKRA Rules Tires: Open Tire 4.50 front and 6.00 rear Fuel: 87 Octane Weight: 320 lbs
I have a call in to the guy about what restrictors they are using, I have blue and purple ones .550 and .500 here and have a red and silver ones comin but the are small, what do you guys think about these wieghts, the motor wieghs about 37-38 pounds complete

Back in the day. Jr2 4 cycle was 275lbs with the. 500 restrictor. Junior 2 unrestricted was 300lbs. Jr1 was 235 or 245 with the .425.

We had Eric Nasimnto in his clone cadet and with no wieght at close to 260 lbs, that thing was fast, blowin by Sr Clones. Do you think we should try and make all Clone class's about the same speeds or make Jrs slower, what do you think we should shoot for

I think it depends on what your trying to do. Ithink it should be slower than a comer 80. To keep it entry level. I would say a restictor plate should be ran. 260? ?? That's a freaking heavy Jr 1

Hey Gino, sorry for the tardy reply. The rules will be based almost entirely on AKRA rules set. Everything is pretty much finalized and we'll have all the updated rules posted shortly. On the oil question, I don't run a clone but I've seen all kinds of oil run in those things. Hopefully our clone drivers can pipe up and tell you what they are using. Can't believe no one has responded to that question yet!

I never ran synthetic oil, I ran Blendzall 4 Cycle Racing Castor (Light) 35W.
I'm sure a 30W Mobil-1 would work fine, or Red Line Racing 20WT. I generally used regular oil for the motor break in.

I like the AKRA rules for the Jrs, what I would like to see is the Jr1 class age 8 to 12 with .500 or smaller restrictor and the Jr2 class age be 11 to 15 and run at 320lbs with .550 restrictor. I think the overlap in age will give a smaller racer the ability to stay in cadet and the bigger kids a chance to move up sooner. As for restrictors I would like to see all the clone classes the same speed, has anyone else tested any restrictors in Jr clones, would like to see some input on this, I will have a cadet at the track tomorrow

The Cadet with the .500 restrictor at around 260lbs was very close to the full size Clone at around 350lbs, lookin to get some testing with Jr 2 Clones but weather has not been favorable for karting
