Okay, here's my ignorance. I was working on my son's emmick yesterday and the wheel hubs were pretty beat up. I want to get some new ones and I don't want to buy the wrong ones. I see ones listed with a "standard 3 on 58mm pattern". Is that what I would need or would I be looking for something else? Thanks!

Terry - does your son's kart have a 40mm rear axle? If he does have a metric axle then chances are "3 on 58" is correct. Also, do you know what those numbers mean? It simply defines there are 3 wheel studs on the hub and they are 58mm apart (center to center). Just measure the center to center distance between 2 of the studs with a metric ruler. If your Emmick was made in the last 5 years, then I'd put money on them being metric 3 on 58's. It's the most common size kart hub produced by all of the hub manufacturers. All kart shops carry them, as well as Internet karting supply houses. I used to buy mine at Fastech Racing out of Monterey or Acceleration Karting, Las Vegas, NV. If they aren't the metric hubs, then I'd take one to your favorite kart shop and have them match it up.
Good luck this year - Paul

I have a cracked front hub. Is kartel the only kart shop in Sacramento that sells parts? I went by there Saturday morning and they were closed or out at Prarie City I guess. thanks, DonS

Look up GSR/Emmick Cobra racing in Rancho Cordova. David is great and will help you out. 916-383-2288

GSR/Emmick Cobra, Kartel, and California Kart World are the three that stock parts in the Sac area. Scott as MMI in Stockton also stocks parts. But I have to admit that I buy hubs from Comet Kart sales.

if they are the hubs i honed out for you they were american pattern not metric, if so get some from GSR they probobly have them there, Try and support your local shops though, keeping your money local means local shops will be around to support you when you need them, internet appears cheap but with packaging and shipping charges costs are simmilar

Thanks Scott! I so appreciate you honing those. I try to support the shops whenever I can. This post was from before the weekend. I was thinking the hubs were not doing so well. Hopefully I won't need any to soon now.

California Kart world is open on the weekend and is located at the prairie city Kart track.

Okay so let me ask this crazy question...if my hubs are an american pattern does that mean that my axle isn't 40mm? Or can you have 40mm hubs with an American pattern to the hubs? I would think you could but wadda I know

In order of popularity, here are the different hubs available: Metric hub (ie 25MM, 30MM,40MM,50MM) for metric bolt pattern wheels (most common) American hub (1 1/4") for American bolt patter wheels (Very common) American hub for Metric bolt pattern wheels (less common) Metric hub for American bolt pattern wheels (kinda rare)

So you're saying I probably don't have a 40mm axle...I guess I should actually know this before I take Jonah out to run...especially when I need to find parts!

Was this the kart we worked on during the scheduling meeting? Looked like a 40mm axle to me.
Why do you think you have a US bolt pattern? Head to the wheels section on Comet Kart Sales online store. They list dimensions for US and Metric wheels.
