I'll be attending the 5/18 Terry Ives kart driving school at PC on Monday 5/18. There are 5 spots open still if anyone is interested. We will be using Terry's karts, with (I think) HPV engines on them. $300 for the day, bring your own lunch. Details at www.terryives.com/

Just got back...
Driving school was not quite what I expected, but I got out of it what I wanted to get out of it. I am still chasing medical issues, but proved today that I have enough of a handle on that to race safely and have a good time. I did somewhat less han 100 laps in a Comer 125 / Margay kart with YDS tires (similar to B55s). I am definitely coming to the crossover with the F200 ready to rock.

Let me explain what I meant by "not what I expected" .....
Somehow I had it in my head that a "school" setting would include someone instructing us, which was not the case. There were 4 guys there (including Terry) that you could ask questions to, but pretty much it is set up as a "self taught" scenario. I tagged along with a group of 9 buddies that have made the trip to PC / Terry Ives driving school an annual gathering. Pretty much the buddies ran the show as far as deciding when we went (they were all pretty young and hardcore racers), so we went out a lot. I had 50 laps in by noon when we broke for lunch. Terry spent pretty much the whole day wrenching. Out of 10 guys there was 3 broken seat struts, 1 broken crank, 2 destroyed chains, and a broken set of steering uprights (that one was exciting). Fortunately my issues were limited to a finicky carb, massive understeer, and a flat tire. The Comer125 has considerably less power than an F200, but I think what I learned will be translatable to what we do.
The money Gary charges for practice days is about 1/10th of a school day, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to get the same thing out of it as long as you can place an observer at a corner you are having trouble with.

Brad - good to here you are ready for action and welcome back buddy. I've always wondered what the format was for Terry's school and now I know. It sounds like you learned a lot and definitely got a bunch of seat time. Excellent! We've been needin' more F2's to come out and play. Hopefully Rick will be making it too!
Peace,
-PV
