OK brad yours are done, that 20 degree margay set up uses a bit more matierial, and I thought it needed a brace so I added them, looks as if they will hold up well, but time will tell, so in other words welcome to my R&D department. I have a feeling these new bumpers are going to take a beating out on the track so in the spirit of the clone I'll keep them on hand and affordable. and for those that already have one of my bumpers please give feed back so I can improve on them, Saaaaaaaweet! I'm happy to be a part of your R&D department! That goes right along with me being my team owner's "test" driver. LOL Now we just need to figure out when we can hookup. I wish I could race this weekend at Dixon but I've got a ton of crap I need to do around the house this weekend unfortunately.... I took a closer look at the bumper you left for me to give to Terry after you left. VERY nice! I'm excited to see mine. Thanks!!

Brad yours actually turned out very nice, now just stay on the go peddle and off the whoa peddle and they might just stay that way. LOL.

OK - another issue. I have three Kart Kaddy stands. They are cool as they stack nicely and I can even put them on my trailer (all three - pic at end of posting) and get into standard garage door in a 10' long trailer. Trouble is they don't work well with full width bumpers. They say you can actually use these stands with wide metal bumpers by supporting the kart by the bumper. I would not feel comfortable doing this with them on the trailer though. My choices 1) get quick release or easily detached bumpers 2) change my kart stand and trailer method 3) deal with unbolting bumpers each time Obviously the easiest one would be the QR metal bumper. I see for racing though that this is something safety wired so that would require re-wire every time it went on the trailer (I could put it on the stand for track-side work using the bumper). On the other hand I have never been completely happy with my trailer - just seems a little unsightly or unwieldy (although they are rigidly cinched down and now have fixed wheel chocks for the stand wheels). Also a bit concerned about oil draining past the rings for the clone motors. No problem yet though - but only a couple of hours on each. My only option would be make the trailer a double-decker. I would need to still be able to get both karts onto stands alone. The bottom one would probably need to come down onto the ground first though (in the Dixon mud?!). See trailer in first picture at sites.google.com/site/mikeshovercraft/intrepid-aixro-xr50-kartMike.

You have to have the entire rear of the kart covered by bumper, at least to mid-rear tire (but not beyond the rear tire). Theory is it prevents a kart coming from behind driving up and over you.

Theory is it prevents a kart coming from behind driving up and over you. In practice I'm willing to bet it will result in more NASCAResque bumping 'n banging. Well, everywhere other than NFRA races of course. LOL But I guess we'll see.

It will definitely make it easier to punt a slower kart off the track...

Disclaimer: For the record, the only person I have ever punted off the track is myself...

OK time to pimp some more bumpers! basically the ones I'm building have the vertical center hoop which allows for the use of a cross bar if you choose to use it and makes for a good push point at the center of the kart, the extentions over the wheels are at a 30 degree slant, from what I've heard and in theroy this should effectively stuff a plastic front bumper into the track and at least do some damage, thus making that part of my bumper not the best part to try and work over without any consecquences, And hey Brad I have some left over pain killers a pocket knife and a pair of plyers, ;D

Is the wide bumper waived for our first race? I just realized the kart I am getting does not have the wide bumper. if not once I get the kart I can get ahold of you (tommy).

No, Kinsmen had a grace period for their first 2 races but as of March 6th, they are mandatory.

I have a tip for getting those Emmick plugs out if you have the allen head set up How do you get the bumper off? Took nuts off and the center stud just came right out. Measurement center stud to center stud is 23 15/16. Maybe that should be +- 1/16. I will try to download a picture after i charge the camera.

So I purchased a kg plastic rear bumper kit and found out that I can't get my rear track wide enough to comply. The bumper is about an inch wider on each side with my hubs at full width safely. What do I do?
