What do folks use to remove grease/chain lube from gears (and the rest of the kart) after racing?
I have been using lacquer thinner. But it is rather toxic in my opinion.

To be honest I just wipe it down with a paper towel. It leaves a thin film of protection on the parts.

I put the kart on the trailer and hope the freeway wind blows it off. Then when I get to the track the next time I re-think that plan. Then after that race I put the kart on the trailer and hope the freeway wind blows it off. It's a bad cycle.

Ive found chain lube to be a very good protectant unless weight becomes an issue I see no reason to remove it.

We are supposed to clean these things too?? WTH?? I got into karting so I could get OUT of cleaning stuff which is what I'd probably have to do if I were at home instead of the track. LOL

The 98 cent store has some stuff called Awsome there are a few different ones orange, green and purple but the yellow or tan stuff is the best, spray on the kart around the engine and gear, use a brush to loosen the grease and hose off, if you can hook a hose to your hot water heater it works even better, don't let it st on painted things to long, might dull it a little, if it does WD 40 will bring it back, works great on washing driver suits also pour some in a tub with water soak the suit in it for a while then wash it on gentle cycle it's awsome for sure
