Okay, so given my interesting mishap of last Sunday's fractured hub, I realized I needed to get some spares of certain items. I want to get some new hubs but I realized I also want to get some rims. As I am looking at sites for rims I realized I don't understand the sizing for rims (or for the correct spacing for American pattern bolts on rims). I have an Emmick so my rims are American pattern. My axle is 40mm. I am likely going to replace my axle as well as I (and Mark and Brad) were having a heck of a time getting the hub on that 1 side. I am looking to get longer hubs with an American bolt pattern to replace my fractured one, some rims as spares in case of damage or as practice tires, and likely a new brake rotor as it did a lot of scraping on the ground when I lost my wheel. So, my questions are... 1) Do I buy a 5"x6.5" rim for 6.0 tires? Is there a mm equivelent? 2) If it doesn't say "American" pattern what is the correct spacing of that pattern rim holes? 3) Are front tire rims standard in size for the post hole? 4) Is there anything else I should be concerned about when I buy this not quite complete axle set up? ;D

(1-3)- I have had quite fun trying to figure that out myself... keep in mind you dont have to stay with an american wheel bolt pattern if you are buying new hubs.
4. Determine which axle stiffness you want as the stiffness can play a huge roll in the handling of the kart. I beleve a soft axle is better for colder climates and a hard axle is better for hotter weather. I tend just to stick with a medium to keep a neutral setup. Oh.. and check the bearing in your carriers to see the condition they are in as having good bearings will help decrease the rolling resistence which is always a good thing in a clone.

1) There is not alot of choice in the US pattern so 6.5" will likely be the only option. 2) You will also see "US pattern". Comet lists the dimensions on their site: www.cometkartsales.com/store/wheels/wheels.htm3) There are multiple US and Metric spindle sizes too. (Having fun yet?) When I switched from Margay (17mm) to Emmick (5/8 I think) I only had to change the wheel bearing.
