Myself and my family came out to the Blue Max Kart Track today to practice a little bit, camp out and do the family deal! We sat down for dinner with one of my best friends and he started talking about this Guy Steve Settje. I had seen the thread in memory of Steve on this forum and wondered who This Guy was. Not till this evening did I realize that I had met Steve Settje 3-5 times in our last 1/2 year of racing. Steve had introduced himself to my daughter Gwen and I at last years gold rush. We talked for 5-10 minutes and he complimented myself and my daughter on How great It was that We are out here racing and having a great time. He Also warned me that I need to invest in a shotgun due to my daughter being Awesome! !! Then a month or two later we had come out to Davis again for a midweek test/practice session and he again reminded me that I should invest in a shotgun. I reminded him that my uncle Tommy was far ahead of his plan and had given me a shotgun prior to Gwen being born. I believe this story happened again and again. But Steve would greet us with a huge smile and a huge heart. After hearing the stories from my friend tonight, I found out that he was an outstanding guy. My friends started a kart shop and would give him parts and he would keep them and distribute them to racers on need of something. I'm glad I was able to be a part of this weekend even if it rains tomorrow. I'm going to see if my daughter Gwen can do a lap for a Guy she probably will never remember due to the fact that she's only 5. Come out and support the family of a fellow racer. Remember a good Guy. Let's show Steve that we love This sport as much as he did. Come on out. All the garbage aside.
