I've never been to the Reno track. What is a good gear choice for use there?
I imagine that there is an altitude difference there. Do folks change their jets? And, if so, what jet size is recommended?
Is there anything else I should consider? Do they have any rules that are different from our usual ones?
Thanks, Mark

Mark, i'll have to check my notes...mmm, I did keep notes didn't I ? I do remember we really didn't need to change the jetting even though there was a lot of discussion about it. Terry

I just got back from reno today,,, (racing cars) and we needed to change the jetting due to the altitude difference due to the car running way to rich.... i dont know how the clones will like the elevation, but i know the kart track is at around the same elevation as the car track (47xx feet).

Mark, I checked my notes ...
Last year I ran 15/58 with my clone with a 0.036 jet which got me max revs of 5800 RPM.
Simon.

Travis and I spoke today and he said a ratio of 3.7 is about right. He talked about a 15-55 up to 58.

I was looking at the Reno club's website, they run Sr. Clones at 350 lbs. minimum. Do we take some weight off, or just run at our "normal" 360 lbs.?

Hey guys Sorry I haven't been around for a while. here's some info to start:
NNKC track.
Clone Gearing for Long Track Configurations- 3.70:1 through 3.80:1 Gear ratios
Clone Gearing for Short Track Configurations- 3.80:1 through 3.90:1 Gear ratios
These should get you pretty close to what people run.
Hint: A 15 tooth front driver will get you more gear ranges above and below what we typically run.
***JR1 Clone gearing shall be around a 16 tooth front driver and 55 tooth rear sprocket to start. This will give you enough room to move up and down as needed.*** Jetting ranges are 0.036, 0.037, 0.038
0.040 is definately rich for our elevation.
Sr Clone is 350# Jr2 Clone is 280# Jr1 Clone - 225# Approved to run with Jr1-2cycle UNRESTRICTED
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On a side note... I'd like to get together and BBQ with you guys. I need an approximate head count so I can reserve Pit Spots for all of you to be together.
A club member at NNKC also stocks 6" YKC rear tires for our clones and 4 cycle racing oil.
Let me know if you guys need anything.
