I got a used WF engine, stock without the new coil rev limiter. Ran it Saturday and it seems fine, much better than the F200 in pieces in a box in my shop! Questions: does this engine need the angled motor mount? the needle valve on the carb; setting and sizes? where does the mycron rpm wire attach? the F200 has a tab on the coil. WF wrap it on the spark plug? Spark plug type also, cool/hot? The clutch is Hortsman-nitro, 219 chain 13T driver. I want to convert it to #35, I have a couple of driver sprockets and will see if they fit. I do not have any 219 axle sprockets.
Any other secrets anyone wants to share I will bring plenty of beer this weekend to share, Olympia is on sale!

Any other secrets anyone wants to share I will bring plenty of beer this weekend to share, Olympia is on sale! First off, congrats on your WF!! Before answering your questions I have to throw out my usualy disclaimer that I don't know anything and that any damage or injury that may result from taking my advise is not MY fault. Now, having said that... If you aren't running a limiter you will want to keep a close eye on RPMs. Don't keep throwing teeth at it. Peak power is between 6-7K. Anything more than that and you are just shortening the life span of your motor. You don't HAVE to run an angled mount but most of us run between 5 and 15 degrees. If I remember right, if you run at a higher angle you may need slightly less oil. Do you know what angle it was being run at? If you change it significantly you may need to adjust the float level. I've only adjusted the needle once to try and fix a hesitation issue. Didn't have any effect. I'd say either leave it where it is if it seems to run well or just put it in the middle. Just wrap the Micron wire around the plug wire and zip tie it and you should be good. No idea on the hot cold question. Mine came with a Denso U24ESR-N. Tried to buy another one at Auto Zone but they didn't carry those. Ended up replacing it with a NGK CR8E and it seems to work fine. Like the coil, the Hortsman is not technically a legal clutch for the WF. Since we are out there to have fun I don't see that as a big deal (at least until you win, at which point you will be DQed). Converting to a 35 would be a good idea if for no other reason than you can use us as a resource if you need a gear that you don't have. I don't have any real secrets to share other than to qualify as well as you can and hope your rear bumper can handle the love from behind.

I was just trying to save you from the inevitable thread you'd post on Friday morning at 2:13am saying something like, "I broke off my spark plug in my head so NOW what do I do!" ;D

Oh man you crack me up. ;D By the way, smart alec, if I broke the spark plug IN the head I know how to deal with it. It is when the head breaks around the spark plug that I have a problem.

Thanks for all the info. I think it has a rev-limiter, not the newer type? I just want to get it mounted/set up correctly to run this weekend, I have been looking forward to this track all summer, I like the smell of the pine trees. The engine was mounted flat on the dirt chassis. I will leave it that way so I do not have to mess with the carb. I will run the hortmans or the Tomar off the f200, for this race only. DQed for winning the race! My goal is to finish!

I like the smell of the pine trees. I'm out! I can't keep the kart running on the track without trees, let alone driving around pine trees. Who would build a track where you have to avoid such dangers? Oh Oh Mr. Kotter, Mr. Kotter. I have an idea. I have my kart not running and somebody push me around the track! I won't have to work on the kart, and I can avoid the trees safely.
