Simon #81-GVI. Upon returning to the pits after the first practice Simon was not a happy camper. Seems his motor would not turn over 6000 rpm. Team NFRA jumped into action tearing down his carb for a full inspection. It wasn't until after the jets were removed and inspected that Simon noticed that his choke was in the middle position. It seems these motors like to have some air in order to work properly. Scoots #27-GVI. Scoots was unable to finish one of the heat races because he ran out of gas, ON the track. Seems that motors need not only air, but fuel as well.

As I recall, the Heat he did not finish was the one following my engine exchange. The major assistance he gave me on my kart interfered with his ability to service his kart. When we finished my engine swap we started the engine as everyone was already heading to the grid. Based on the foregoing there was no GVI.

As for the choke, I read somewhere that people are putting rubber bands or some sort of spring mechanism to prevent the choke from engaging. THis seems to be a common theme for karts with chokes. Does that mean I will have this problem if I got to WF?

First off, what do you mean IF? I thought you had it on order already! ;D
And the choke isn't really a problem. I think everyone forgets to flip it off at least once. For me it was at Infineon, Scott at Davis, Simon at Redding...you get the picture. Luckily that is one of those things you usually only do once. LOL

If I have a choke on my engine I know I will screw that one up. I say just remove the choke.
