I was woundering if the IKF rules say that you have to use a battery box for the electric starter battery or can I just strap the battery to the kart by itself

Answering that question would require that someone on this board actually own an IKF rulebook, which as far as I know no one does.

The IKF rules (Section 717.3) state "Battery must be securely mounted to frame or floor pan, no mounting to bumpers or nerf bars."

I wonder what the definition of "securely" is? One mans duct tape is another mans safety wire if you know what I mean.

Well from what I have seen on other karts I believe what I came up with will be ok. It is very secure, I belive you can pick up the front of the kart from the Battery box. ;D

I really would like to but I just dont think that I will make this one as I am still short saftey gear and track time although Brad offered me a helmet, I am lacking driving time. I havent even had the kart on the track yet so I really dont know that it is tuned right. Don't really want to use a race day as a practice day. It's going to be bad enough that I will be out there with a big X on my helmet and kart so at least I can make sure it is running good

I understand. I'd say the next club race at Davis would be a good first race...

Definitely understand Dean. First race is stressful enough without having to worry about staying on the track and whether the kart is going to have issues. Hopefully you'll have some time to take her out to Davis before the next race for some shakedown laps. Let me know if there is anything we can do to help. The offer on the helmet stands. Also, I just got an email from Turk Bros. and they have Zamp helmets on sale for $50. If you need a neck brace I've got 2 of them I'm not using anymore and you are welcome to them.
