I took off the clutch, and found that there is binding when you try to free spin it. Taking it off I found that the shoes and the drum are binding (intermittently as it spins). This would be a typical symptom of warping.
I am now going through the first clutch that I used in WF to see if that has any problems. I only used that one at the first couple of races and I was not really happy with it.
I am wondering if my driving style is too hard on a WF clutch, or if I am doing something wrong.
Does anyone else have similar problems with the WF clutches?

Bound up as in doesn't free spin or bound up as in there is a little "ding, ding, ding" as it rotates but does spin?

Spins slowly but drags. It stops after just 1+ turns. Remember when we were spinning our front wheels on the karts. One spun continuously and the other would drag to a stop. It is similar to that. It appears as if the shoes do not retract back far enough to prevent contact in just a certain spot. Because the springs are a pain and cannot be removed easily it is difficult to look deeper to diagnose.

FYI, did some measuring of parts because last race still had clutch binding. Found the different drivers have different measurements where the snap ring goes in place to hold the drum on.
As you may know you put the drum on, then the spacer, and then the snap ring. On the drivers that are a little taller when placed flat on a bench there is no room for the spacer. When you put the spacer in place and then the snap ring, it binds them together. The drum then does not spin freely.
Given that I got the drivers from different aftermarket sources, I am not sure which one is which. Just FYI if you have binding problems it may because of the lack of a gap to put that spacer in place.
I don't know if it can run without the spacer. However, I found when it runs with the spacer and slightly bound, it generates a LOT of heat. Dan can attest to that as he sprayed WD40 on it after a heat and it sizzled.

Just thought about the fact that I didn't think about the clutch for one second this weekend. I guess the spacer and driver selection is what determines if there is going to be binding on race day. Just FYI for next season.
