Congratulations Daniel! Ditto for Ron! Mark, I'll pass that on to Daniel, thanks! Thank you too Mark for helping out with wrenching on Daniel's clone motor with the assorted remedies we tried. It was certainly an interesting bunch of problems we had to diagnose ! A huge thanks to Rich for lending us his chassis and motor and helping put it all together (plus weights, tools, etc.) . Daniel had a blast and is very appreciative of the drive. I'm sure he'll be back on the odd occasion when soccer does not clash with a kart race. Ron, you nailed the gearing and drove a very good race, congrats ! I though I would be able to hang with you up the hills, but I just couldn't chase you down. Nice job ! Was the trailer driveable at all after that? When it happened I thought "no", the wheel was jammed into the fender and the axle was just mashed right up into the frame. We stopped at a gas station to survey the damage and got wrenching and relocated the fender so even though we had no suspension on one side, the fender was clear of the tire. Thanks to mobile internet found a local trailer shop within 7 miles and decided to slowly head there and drop the trailer off, leave a note to say "please fix me". Once we got to that shop (obviously closed on a Sunday) it became apparent there was no way I was leaving my trailer full of gear in a very sketchy part of Martinez, and seeing as though the trailer seemed to be behaving with a broken spring as long as we were very cautious and I took as much load out of the trailer and into the truck, we tiptoed home at 45mph. We made it home thankfully, but will be revisiting my level of AAA coverage to make sure I get trailer assistance coverage as well. Anyone know what the failure mode is for torsion arm axles ? I'm tempted to hack off the leaf springs and go torsion arm.

Race report?
For the cost of a torsion spring conversion you could easily afford to carry spare leaf springs.

Congratulations to Daniel. Watching them battle I had no idea how anyone finished in that pack. I couldn't even tell who was winning for the seniors until the checkered flag came out. Then I couldn't tell where Daniel was in the pack. With some drama during the racing, dirt flying, scaling/weight issues, and nose pushed in he held his own. That is great. He is a great driver.
Between my late night meeting Friday, Reno Saturday, Prairie City Sunday, and my mom's Sunday night emergency phone call with a irrigation breakage, I got about 12 hours of sleep all weekend. I must admit however, the night race in Reno was worth it.
Then I watched my son battle mid pack throughout the day. He then had problems passing due to being overly cautious after his kart flip on 9/16. That pushed him to almost the back of a 14 kart string for the main. He fought back, got the nerve to pass, and worked his way back to 5th place out of 14 karts.
Thanks to Dan for all of his tips throughout the night. And thanks to all who picked on me saying I was going to be a dog on the start. I was real nervous because all of our gearing was all over the board. I didn't nail the gearing, Brad posted 15/64 so that is what I ran all day and night. Thanks Brad.

Just when I thought I was safe and nothing else could possibly break as I was 150 miles away from the kart track ...... BANG!! Right hand leaf spring snaps on the trailer on 680 just before Benecia. .... at least no oil fell out ;-) I'll see your leaf spring and raise you a transmission. And just when I thought the weekend couldn't get any, ah, better. Congrats to Daniel and Ron. You guys ran a great race. Actually, Simon and Rich were also very fast as well. After these last 2 races in Reno I officially hate going there. LOL Just kidding.

Actually, Simon and Rich were also very fast as well. That’s right, I forgot to compare the finishing times. I was told Rich and Simon were very, very close. I just didn’t want to believe it. Dramatically the times were Ron 13:29.874 Rich 13:30.152 (just 0.278 seconds more than Ron) Simon 13:30.327 (just 0.175 seconds more than Rich) That means from 1st to 3rd there was just a 0.453 second difference. I didn’t think it was that close, but I forced myself not to look back. I knew if I did it would have scared the *^@% out of me. That was a race!!!!!!!! I want to see Simon's video of the Main finish it has to be unbelievable.

Congrats to Daniel. Back in the seat after a year. Racing in that crazy pack of clones. Congrats to Ron. The practice monster man. How many practice laps did you run? Got in front at the start and kept it! I was gunning for you the last lap and a half! As for me; Other than looking at my tires with disgust!!!! Never changed a jet, did not work on the motor once, changed one gear all race, did not break anything, and never came in on the crash kart all weekend. Simon, got all of the first heat, 45 secs of the second heat, and maybe ten minutes of the Main. What is going on with these cameras?

Well I made it home but it was making all sorts of strange noises by that time. Rich and I actually heard something a little strange when we were up in Redding. I took it into the shop when I got back but they weren't sure where the noise was coming from without dropping the tranny and tearing it down. They also thought the noise migth have been coming from the U-joint. I guess we know now.
