I'm running a 15/66 on my WF. I can't remember what the clones are running. I THINK they are all running something different. Hopefully one of them will check the board and chime in??

at davis were were running 13-68-61 it sounds like you guys were running the close to the same times so it would be whatever you feel comfotable with (you might want to run the numbers on thoughs to comepar with your front driver)

No this is only my 5th day in a kart I don't think I'm ready. Today my son and I decided to race each other and I realized I have no idea about the etiquette of passing. I raced motocross for years and knew when I could stuff a guy without anyone getting hurt. I think I'll need to observe a couple races first to know when to push it and when to back off.

purdum, this will be about the fifth time in a kart for most of the clones! No sandbagging! You'll be fine.
Just remember there is no block passing like in motocross! Speaking of that, I ought to go for a ride on the KTM this afternoon...

With 5 days seat time, needing to know passing etiquette is being a bit hopeful The actual more important thing is how to be passed whilst maintaining a clean predictable line. In he NFRA race format clones will sometimes get lapped by F200s in the heat races, and always in the mains. It is just lap-time-math. The next two weeks are the only 2 back-to-back races we have all year, so Dixon will be your next opportunity on 7/12. From what i understand that should be a big clone turnout, and will likely run separate from the F200s because Dixon has it as a club class. I for one will be going to Dixon at some point over 4th of July weekend to get in a full practice day.

I think I'll need to observe a couple races first to know when to push it and when to back off. I too was reluctant to enter my first race because I didn't feel like I was ready. Thing is, unless you are Kyle Busch, you probably won't be doing a LOT of passing initially so don't be too concerned about that. The main thing is to get some experience out there in a race situation. How to grid up, start the race etc. When you've never raced before those things can be a little stressful. After I ran my first race I was kicking myself in the butt for waiting as long as I did. Just slap an X on your number panel and helmet and let's go racing! You'll do just fine.

Is there a decision of Clones, WF, F200 are running together? If they are I will let our Secretary know to be ready for it.

Purdum, I have exactly one day of kart experience and I intend to run the next Dixon race, probably with only another day or two of practice before then. Admittedly I have had 2 and half seasons watching my son racing so have seen plenty of passes that worked and plenty that didn't. The heat grid is set by qualifying time, so it's a pretty good bet that the field will just stretch out as the race progresses.
If by some freak of chance I find myself in a situation where I might be able to pass, I'll be trying to get a run on someone out of a corner so I can pass on the straight. Most wrecks happen where someone tries to dive down the inside entering a corner and attempts to steal the apex and the leading kart just turns in on them as they don't know they are there.
But what the hell do I know ? ;-)

Actually, there is no tire rule for the NFRA clone class at the moment. The proposed ruleset lists Bridgestone YHC and Burris tires.
