Hey guys,
I am trying to get all 3 of us up to par with all the needed tweaks for the karts. I have spent a lot of time trying to find a weight for WKA Jr WF without success. At tracks that run the class (I'm guessing IKF) the weights go from 310 to 320. Both my kids are well below that. Since we aren't running ayone else but those 2 for now would you mind if we set the weight at 285 or so. That way I can work on getting weight onto my kart (I've got to put 25-30 pounds onto my kart too) and we can always add to the kids if we need to at any given track. If Simon's son joins us and the weight becomes an issue we can always change it. Does that work for everyone? Terry

Terry, the WKA has ALMOST no WF involvement at this time. Fact is, it's hard to find so much as a reference to the World Formula engine package. One might conclude that the weight would be an "agreed upon" number in advance of raceday. Heck, if most are smaller drivers, agree on 260#!

Well, after wrenching for almost 5 hours just to get both my boys onto the track I only got Keevan's weight but that was 286ish. Jonah would likely be a smige (sp!) lighter. I'd be fine with making it 260 or 270. Then I don't have to worry about their weight at all! I just can't see dumping alot of weight onto them when they are really only competing against each other. Besides, I'm likely to need all of their lead to make weight myself I just want to be sure I have agreement among the NFRA crew that they are ok with it before we start the season.

The other day was a blurr to me. I forgot the ages of your boys. What are their ages?
If they are between 12-15 then it is covered by IKF. It is Jr II World Formula Light at 325, or Jr II World Formula Heavy at 340. If they are aged 7-11 (12th year is option) then it is Jr I Briggs Gas at 240, 250, or 260, from light to Heavy. However, I think Jr1 is a Cadet kart.

I thought we were following WKA Ron?

We are but I had my IKF book at lunch with me. I can't find my WKA book after I literally threw everything in my garage last night. Also Dan said it was not in WKA so I thought I might post it for reference. This way it is on line for people to see.
It is just FYI. When we go to other tracks sometimes they have other WF racers. I personally don't care about weight on other drivers when they do not impact my points.

I would prefer we follow the IKF rules to be honest.
If the WKA rules are the ones Ron shared with me before the enduro, then for Briggs, they don't allow 50mm axle, have a max width of 50" and as the rear bumper can't be wider than the rear tires so the plastic CIK 53" bumpers are illegal as well. That would mean a season of DQs for Simon.
Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, or maybe there are some West Coast supplemental rules I have missed completely, but from what I read, the WKA rules don't fit well with our racing.
Probably a subject for a separate discussion, but we should agree on the rules we're running under before the first race !

To answer your question Terry re the boys weight, I'm not fussed if they just want to race each other, but we should specify a weight and not just leave it open. We need to declare a weight so the tech guy can put it on the sticker and the scale house staff know what's going on.
If Daniel comes and races, he's probably going to want a level playing field and would want everyone on MGs and running 325lbs.

WKA does not have a weight for World Formula. The Briggs Junios 12-15 year old Animal class is Light 310, medium 320, and heavy 330.
Simon, how old is your son? I thought he was over 15.
