Daniel raced Jr1Clone in Tri-County this weekend. Always mid-pack and then pulled off a second place in the Main through some gearing guesswork. Following the race they had tech tools out and told us to tear things apart, carb completely off with spacer, valve cover off, take out springs.
They had to help me because I never had valve springs out.
Tension rose but everything passed flawlessly, except for the tech people telling me I can actually do preventative maintenance and clean things better. What they don't know is I have never actually cleaned anything yet.
I was told I could replace springs. I was told to clean the carb better. I was told to trim the gaskets for the carburetor so the air flows smoother. I was told to put in a new spark plug. Man I thought it was tech, not rake me over the coals.
It was a fun weekend.

Ron, to give your son a fighting chance you really should find him a competent crew chief, don't ya think?

When he stops bobbling on certain corners giving up precious speed and momentum, maybe I will think about getting him someone that is competent. Until such time he has me.
For what it's worth I got the temperature right, and gearing close, but he would have had a hard time catching Alec who made no mistakes. Their times were within a couple tenths of each other.
Daniel actual learned how to push on the start which gave Alec and Daniel the momentum to pull out into the lead. I am so proud of him to have the courage to push mid-pack, full throttle, with 9 karts on the track, all the way to turn one. It was an awesome sight to witness.
