I know I am early but I am trying to get ideas and input.
This is what I posted on NorCal.
I know there are a lot of SuperSportsman Light out there (at least 25-40). One thread had another track doing a shifter money race (not quite sure of what it is or how they do it). Different people or groups put money into the pot. Would the Supersportsman like that for the October race. I'd personally put up money to see about 35 SS karts on the track together. I also think the Clones are planning to come to Blue Max with the NFRA group. If they are interested I would be interested as well. I know they could have at least 17 clones. To make it more interesting the pot can be a percentage of the funds for 1st, and two more separate pots for a pea pick after the race to see who gets it. Thus you not only the winner can take home cash, but a couple others can as well.
What do you think? We also need to pick the layout, everyone had a blast with short track. What about lower track at turn three (keeps it smoother), with the hairpin included. Maybe with Clones we can leave hairpin out for them to keep speed up. Just a thought. Nothing is set in stone.

Ron 90.....My son's and I will be there with our N.F.R.A. at the oct 18th race and having a money pot would be even better as far as I feel. I think having the faster track for the clones would also be a plus. Not that I need to go any faster at this point. I need to learn how to drive 1st. ;D Anyway count us in for that date of racing. We will be there and also be telling others. Thanks Duffy

I know the Clones are coming to the race because it is an NFRA race. But do you want to try and win something at the same time? Here's the offer.
Gary Peeler is sponsoring the HPV2 race and personally putting up $50 for every 10 HPV2 karts that race. The pot will go to the winner of HPV2.
I am sponsoring the Clones and I am personally putting up $50 for every 10 Clone karts that race. The pot will go to the winner of that class.
Let me know how many you think you got coming and I may personally put in more, and maybe get the club to put more in to be split through raffles [high-low] so you don't have to win the race to have a chance to win something.
Cautionary note - If we are racing for money or prizes we are seriously looking at the racing and racers. We want clean fun.
FYI it is a backwards (clockwise) race, with no hairpin, and going all the way to the top of the hill.

aw man the hairpin is the best part backwards, Inliked it when we shortcut the hairpin on lap 1, but put it back in all the others. Funnest race I have ever been in.

I know, I love the hairpin. I can either be right on, or waaaaayyyy off.
I am the instigator for changing up the track configuration, but I am not the decision maker. Just trying to mix it up so everyone can have fun.

I am planning on being there with my under-powered BSC kart, for the pure fun of racing. The odds of me winning clone race are pretty slim, so a money race is not an issue with me, either way... What is nice is the reasonable entry fee, which helps offset the gas for the 300 mile round trip to Davis... I'm looking forward to my new adventure, mowing to happiness...

You missed this part. If I hear that we will have a really big class I will put in more. I will also push to have the club do something as well (but I am only one vote). For a 2cycle class we can offer 5 gallons of race fuel. But with clones what do I give you a gas card for down the street? Let me know what prizes the racers would like to try and win and I will see what I can do. How about a new motor (they're cheap right)? What was the largest clone class so far, 17. Encourage people to come and win some money / prizes and I will see what I can do.

I DID miss that part! Cool... For me, yes, a gas card or free entry to another race is is a great prize...

I am planning to make the Oct 18 race my first of the year. I will run a clone instead of my F200 but it's better than nothing. If Blue Max turns the clone class into a money race please make it a separate run group. In which case I will grid with F200 and WF.

If the Clones are a money/prize race, I think it should be a separate group.
I am going to try and bring out the F200, hopefully my back will survive.

I just re-read the post. Now I feel bad if you are going to race the clone with the F200/WF. That was not my intent. I just want to be able to give back to a class of karts that has grown this year (especially following the inaugural run in Davis).

I think it's great Blue Max wants to reward the clone class. Don't go changing on my account.
Red mist and a pot of money generally go hand in hand. Finances being what they are the risk-reward equation says stay clear. I'm fine running with the F200/WF group if that's the way it works out.

Point well taken. How about a money pot that is split with raffle only. For example, nothing set for winner, and each prize will be decided by pea pick, high-low. I need other clone racers to let me know what they want. As I have made clear, Blue Max wants to do what the racers want.
Having raffle only would lessen the red mist opportunities? What do you think? I don't want problems in the race either. That's why I started this think tank process early.

Well I guess I'll toss in my 2 cents on the subject. IMHO I feel that Clones Racing for Money goes against the "Spirit and Intent" of the Box Stock Project and nothing good can come from it...period.
Now on the other hand if you were to take donations, cash, gift certificates, sur-prizes, parts etc. and have a raffle or pea pick for a clone race then that's a different story, I would not be opposed to something along those lines. Just my opinion.......~ Karl Cleeton

I'm not that interested in a clone money race, unless the money went to the winners favorite charity.
