The next (first) race for NFRA is Blue Max on March 27, 2011. The track will be run backwards. I am not sure but I think it will be full track backwards.

Cool! Looking forward to it (sort of speak Is anyone clonish going to be out on Sunday at BM? I need to do some mechanical repairs on the throttle mechanism on both boys karts, adjust rockers and replace springs. All things I would love to have an experienced hand around while I am doing them to ensure I don't do anything henious to these engines or their parts. If anyone plans on being there Sunday please let me know. Thanks!

I might be with my son and his Jr I clone - we are ski orphan/widower for the weekend and need something to do. But all the engine work I've done has been on things other than these clones. I am actually thinking of hitting the track this Thursday afternoon.
Just to understand - is backwards clockwise for BM?
I bought a beacon so I can see what my lap times are like - probably pretty lousy. What is an OK lap time (BM perimeter) for a clone?
Mike.

Hi Mike,
Yes it will be backwards at BM for the race. Last year they cut off the hairpin for the backwards race. Don't know the plans this year.
A good perimeter time forwards depends on wether you are a killer driver (Nascimiento 42.4) or an average to poor slob like me ;D (my best time was at the last race with a 45.6). I think a really good time is in the 43 range but that will elude me for some time to come, if ever I think.
I can't make it Thursday but was hoping to work on karts Sunday. I might be able to drag my kids out to practice if I can get the work done. We'll see...

Just to put my times in perspective - I was driving my Aixro at Dixon last year and had Scott (I think?!) pressuring me at the beginning of the straight every lap even though I would leave him behind @ 75mph on that straight! Even 8X the HP could not help me... That was my wake up call to learn how to drive.
I figure I'm safe once I can beat my math of number of laps X time lost per lap <= leaders lap time (i.e. not get lapped/in the way)
I do need to get with some folks about a checklist on my kart. I don't know if everything that should be wired is wired etc.

Perhaps we can get a NFRA gaggle together to practice Sunday and we can all help each other with "stuff". I certainly can help going over safety wire, etc. Engine stuff I like the more experienced guys to be around for. What does everyone think? Sunday's supposed to be nice weather?

Backwards you say? Humm... never did that at BM, so I guess a bit of practice is in order if I plan to keep up with Mac. and I think I still have that 60mm bumper for Warx if he still needs it, keep us informed, maybe we can all get to the track at the same time for some practice, bench racing and tech tips

Hey - Yes! Still need that 600mm bumper for the Top Kart.
I am committing to Sunday practice as is my son. He would really like to see other kids out there. I've been taking him to tracks during the week where he circles the track on his own. He'd love to follow some good drivers and learn - as would I!
Darn - I was going to use the sun today to warm my YKCs enough for me to press onto the rims. I've still got YHCs on my clone.
Mike.

I will be at Infineon saturday practicing.... i may be out at Davis sunday practicing/helping people work on their karts. Just a notice about running clockwise... the time should be a bit faster. And turn 1 has quite the appitite for chains if you use too much kerb.

I spoke to Leo today, and our race is indeed backwards, practice will also be backwards the week prior to the race. So prolly not this Sunday unless no one is there.

I would come out this Sunday if practice was backwards, otherwise no. Not much point practicing the wrong direction.

I would like to practice "backwards" on Sunday too. What time are people planning on arriving?

If you show up early just make it backwards. Go out and drive it backwards. Bring cardboard and put up a sign on grid that it is backward. That's what I did.
I am going to try and make it with my F200 (that I still have to put together), my son's Kid Kart, and my oldest's HPV1. But then again baseball season is upon me and I coach two teams, so who knows what will happen.
Tommy, if you go to Davis call me and I will drive over and buy the bumper from you.
