I see there is no camping. I also see there is a dropzone nearby. ;D Who's attending and what sleeping arragnements are people thinking about. I will probably get a hotel somewhere. Does anyone know gearing on F200 for Monterey?

When we set this race up it was our understanding there was some sort of camping near by. One of the WF guys from Monterey reached out to Brad a month or so ago offering to help if we have any questions/issues. Brad is contacting him to get some advice.

The options are limited. This is just up the road. www.marinadunesrv.com/ Claims to have some tent spots as well. Seems pretty close to highway 1 though ! 15 miles down the road there is camping at Laguna Seca www.co.monterey.ca.us/parks/lagunaseca_rates.htmlThere is no race event there that weekend, so there may be openings. Otherwise I'm not seeing much. I might end up in a hotel in Seaside. Not a cheap place to stay given the proximity to Monterey & Carmel.

I'm thinking the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel & Spa on Del Monte Golf Course. I hope they have covered parking. DO you think they will stare at me when I come in all greasy and dirty?

This is what I got from Tom Agan (A WF racer in the Menterey club): I would say Laguna Seca, which s about 20 mins away from the track is your best bet. There is not alot of camping in the area. Marina Dunes is the only one semi close to the track. Here is a link to their site. www.marinadunesrv.com/ and www.mazdaraceway.com/pages/campingThere is a KOA in Prunedale, which is about 20 mins from the track. koa.com/campgrounds/salinas/There is a walmart in Marina just down the road from the track. I don't know their policy, but it might be an option. Here is another one that is off in the sticks. carmelrv.com/Carmel_RV/Welcome.htmlHope these help you out. TA

Just in case you guys are wondering about gearing, World Formula is usually as low as a 15-60 for the really smooth guys and as high as a 15-63 for the rest. F200's have never run here, so I'm not sure. Clone should be similar to a WF

Looks like there is some camping not too far away. One of those places won't accept reservations more than 5 days in advance so it can't be booked already at this point.
However, after falling off a ladder on Saturday my bigger issue is how will my back feel. Right now it feels like I got in a car wreck. Arrrrrg.

You have to get better. You've been pressing me. (Inversion!!! - email me)
One thing I would recommend is going there earlier so you can rest from the sitting down for hours on the ride over. I am probably going to leave real early Saturday to get there as early as I can and practice. Then I can go to a hotel to relax my back before the next day.

I was talking about the one a Laguna. However, I misread the part about 5 days. It says they MUST be made 5 days in advance not that they can't be made made UNTIL 5 days in advance. $30/night + $10 for extra vehicle
The good news is my back is feeling way better. I hardly whimper at all when grabbing second gear or going over speed bumps now. LOL The bad news is the lack of accommodations down there. I'm not necessarily adverse to staying in a hotel for the night but then I'm back to WTF do I do with my kart. I don't want to impose on anyone for trailer space so I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point.

I've been concerned about what to do with the kart and stuff while I'm there. I have an open truck, or an open double decker trailer.
I am contemplating renting an enclosed UHaul. I am going to see what sizes they have. It would basically be for the kart, gas, chemical, and starter (because of the battery). All other stuff will stay inside my truck.
Next thing I have to think about is charging my starter battery after practice Saturday so it is fully charged for Sunday. Are there plugs at the track? So much planning it is starting to feel like work for only Scott and I to race F200s. I assume we will be grouped. Are the Animals in Monterey running with us or in a separate group?
I haven't been skydiving in awhile. Maybe I'll bring my log book and see if I can take a refresher course and jump. Anyone interested?

Brad, you are more than welcome to shove your kart in my trailer again overnight, that's no hassle at all.
I'm undecided on accommodation. Like you say, it's expensive down there at this time of year, but I might bite the bullet and get a hotel. Anyone asked Laguna if they have any vacancies ? That might make the decision for us.
Not sure what the power situation is at the track. I'm guessing none.

Change of plan, I'm going to come home on Saturday night, but I'll leave my trailer at the track, so you can put your kart in there Brad, no problem.

To answer some of your guys' questions, the track is locked at night. Still not the best idea to leave stuff out in the open. There arnt any outlets at the track besides generators. There havent been any animals all season, but they usuallay run with the World Formulas.
